Many of us stay so busy working during the week that finding time to make friends and finding people to fish with can be tough. I was fortunate enough to have grown up in the area and have friends that grew up here and still live in the area, but for some that have not lived in the area long, this is a tough task. I recently met a guy that lives in my neighborhood and as we got to talking he said he liked to fish and wanted to try and get some guys from the neighborhood together that liked to fish. He decided we would meet on a Thursday night and just see what type of turn out we would have. The first night we had about 10 guys and it was decided that we would get together once a month and talk fishing and whatever else we felt like talking about. Our second meeting the number of people was down to 3, but we still had a great time and many of the guys emailed to say they would be at the next meeting and I am pretty sure the group will continue to grow as more people find out about it.

The good news is that you do not need a formal club to get a group together and talk fishing and even make friends to fish with. Getting people that live in your neighborhood or your area of town is probably the easiest way to go about it. If you meet and decide to develop an official fishing club that is great, but there is also something to be said for just getting a group together without some of the politics that can often come with a club.

This area of the site can be found in the forums section under the “Fishing Clubs” section. Just email me if you would l
