Thow in a pinfish for good measure

Dod you stick a ten penny nail up that croakers ass to vent it?
Beauty of today’s trip is that they caught my bait for tomorrow, that croaker will be fed to a breeder I plan on floating tomorrow.

Nice pics fritz. Can’t argue with a child’s smile.
I’m not going to dig deep and show how much of a hypocrite you have been on this and many other issues. Any comment from you on how to handle a Spot tail will only be newly learned techniques. Guess when you run a public charter service you kind of have to lean towards proper stewardship of our resources. Hope too many people have not been crowding your special spots.
I’m clueless alright. Just like you accusing me of calling Polly’s Dad. LOL. I thought the money was actually in Bonnet heads? Glad your knowledge in fishing has grown over the last few years.
You need to bring you personal persona to the internet from time to time. I understand it is much better.
“Why Bruce?”
It’s a shame I can’t get paid for trolling you.

Truce Fritz? Before we get this thread poofed. This is actually a pretty pertinent conversation on our Local Spot Tail fishery. Croaker and Pin fish excluded… which by the way are excellent table fair.
I’m sure you’ve seen one or two releases by someone that floated. I have … on more than one occasion. Broke my heart to see it happen with the best intentions on a live release and not get to eat it.
“Why Bruce?”
Let’s settle it down, no need to fight one another to the death!

Agree. Catch and a proper release is better.

Don’t know exactly how this got personal but the topic here is trying to preserve our fisheries as much as possible.

Nothing personal here. Just a jole about the fighting.
Anyone who thinks their releases have a 100% survival rate would be incorrect. Many charter boats kill redfish unintentionally.

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.

What exactly is everyone fighting about? The moral of this post was about someone not venting a fish that was pulled out of deep water!

You think venting works? 80% of the time? 60% … Darn sure doesn’t work 90-%.
and the simple fact that venting is a sketchy thing with no proof of how effective it is other than the fish won’t float on the surface.
Bottom line is we have too many Charter Captains and may recreational fishermen that like to Target Bull Spot Tail for a “simple” catch and Photo op then release. ShAt doesn’t work. Breeder Spot Tail DIE. Way too often.
Too many purposely Target Breeder Spot Tail with No intent on eating what they catch. Piss on targeting a species only to Drag out of the depths and hope it survives the release.
“Why Bruce?”
quote:At what depth would it be ok to target "bull reds?" And also at what point in your opinion does a fish meet "Bull" status? Thanks for your time.

It seems like DNR would consider anything over 23in a “Bull”.
