Bull redfish rant

That didn’t disappoint.

You need to throw that one on ice

Proper release is better.

What’s wrong with taking pictures of your catch?

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

NOTHING!!!

I agree HW, but it appears some on here have a problem with capturing memories while on the water.

I love to see photos of a nice mess of fish. A quick picture is pretty neat, just a lot get to tied up in their “glory of the catch” and forget about the fish that needs to get back in the water. I’m by no means a Tree hugger. Just don’t believe in useless waste.

I think we can all agree that there is a line between a great photo for a future memory and ignorance in proper catch and release. Just a few months ago we were on the End of the North Jetties and watched a boat load come out anchor up and bring in a very nice red. We watched as the kid (18-24ish) grabbed it with both hands in the gills held it up got a pic, gave it to his buddy he took a pick and then handed it to a girl for a pic and then tried unsuccessfully to get another girl to hold it for a pic. Did the fish live? maybe? It’s release was a big belly flop back in the water. They pulled anchor and headed off… I didn’t see it float but the tide was going away from us. They basically anchored where we had our baits. Scenery was nice and they did play good music.

“Why Bruce?”

The best is most these commenters aren’t even close to qualified to talk on this subject. I respect Fritz on this topic because of experience. I mean how many of y’all have caught a 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 inch red? You don’t even know what a big red is till you break 50 inches. I just p people off when I tell them I’ve caught 60 inchers. Theres that much disbelieve.

No pics, no proof!

I would like to call for a temporary yet complete ban on Bull Red fishing until we can figure out just what the “F” is going on.

Did you create your screen name before you became an expert on 50 and 60 inch reds, or did you just not want to brag?

I’m proud you respect Fritz! I’m sure he is really happy to know someone respects him.

What would you consider for a person to be “qualified” to have an open discussion on an internet fishing sight. Since I’m older and have caught more Spot Tail than Fritz, I would think I would be more qualified than him.

I call b.s. on you catching 60 inchers(plural as you posted). I’d call b.s. on you catching just one over 60" unless you had proof positive and then I’d still be leary. 48" is my best personal Spot Tail caught over live bottom near the S.S. Lawrence. Sorry no picture.

I haven’t seen a beating like this since Chris brown smacked Rihanna around. Fred guess which one you are in this metaphor.

The biggest best fish you can consistently catch year round in our fishery is big reds around 40 inches. At 1 point it was my favorite fish to catch and basically all I targeted. I’ve never fished the popular spots for big reds, didn’t have too… Like I said earlier in this post they are not hard to catch. I’ve caught one about 63 and about a half dozen in the mid 50s and more than enough in the 40s. A 60 incher takes no more skill than a 35 its just luck that its a big guy. Fred I know nothing of your credentials nor did I knock them. Post a report sometime. Its pretty obvious fritz fishes big reds. Killing them would be bad business. You know its more fun to not post the picture of something hard to believe. I like nay sayers it might motivate me to get another 50 incher. If you don’t believe in big fish you won’t catch one, it is that type of fishing. I’ve been lucky to land several fish of a lifetime. I know a lot of people who have red fished a lifetime and not broke 50 inches it makes their beer extra bitter and tough to swallow when u show them one.

Just a fyi my fishing goal as of now is putting a 10ft plus shark on the sand. Most of my fishing time now is based around that so we will see if our beaches hold monsters.

It’s like you’re screaming, and no one can hear
You almost feel ashamed
That someone could be that important
That without them, you feel like nothing
No one will ever understand how much it hurts
You feel hopeless; like nothing can save you
And when it’s over, and it’s gone
You almost wish that you could have all that bad stuff back
So that you could have the good

I need a bigger igloo.

The hook will work its way out of the vent hole.
