Bumping and Jigging 12/6/08

Rounded the corner at South Beach, Hilton Head around 7:30 to be greeted by 2ft. Swales. Stoped at Eagles Nest and made a few drops and decided to push out to deeper water. The fact that there were already three boats fishing there made that decision an easy one. Headed for a ledge about 15 miles further out. The fish were there! Started catching Large Sea Bass, Triggers and B-Liners on Double Bottom Rig with Squid as bait. The fish were spitting up 5 to 6 inch minnows so I switched to a Butterfly Jig. This was the best move of the day. Ended up with a personal best Red Snapper 33lb 10oz. Released three ARS all in 24 to 28 inch range. Keep 15 Black Sea Bass, largest 20 inches. 3 Large Triggers and 3 B-Liners. Headed home at 1:00 able to run 30 MPH and drink a Beer in a 19ft Bay Boat. Total Trip Miles 99.2 Total Fuel Burn 22.4 I have pictures but have to figure out how to post them.

Very nice snapper. Congrats!

make an acct with photobucket and only copy and past the IMG code. It’s very easy. PM if you have any questions. Sounds like a GREAT DAY!!! I wasn’t greeted with those same seas for some reason. I got beat to death 1/2 the day

I weighed it at The Boat House for the Hilton Head, Beaufort Fun Tournament, I wasn’t holding it in the classic, closer to the camera pose.

Is that Dan Dierdorf? Seriously nice fish

The Knife is a Uncle Henry made be Schrade. I won it at a Fishing Tournament, in a raffle, close to 30 years ago. It has been sharpened so many times that the point is really sharp. Best knife I have for cleaning Trigger’s.

Awesome fish. Send some up our way!!!
