Is there anywhere at Edisto to buy live shrimp for bait at any time of the year? I’ve yet to find anywhere that does, regardless of the time of the year. Am I just missing something?
Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…

EWT on Big Bay usually has mudminnows but never live shrimp. As far as I know, no one else on the island sells live bait.
Yeah, I’ve gotten minnows at EWT before, but prefer to catch my own if I can - or mullet.
I just find it strange that there is such a shortage of live bait at Edisto…even during the peak season. I can understand it during the offseason when it wouldn’t likely be worth the effort for the vendors to carry the bait.
What’s the closest place to Edisto to buy live shrimp? Too far to drive? It’s really too time consuming to go to the effort to catch shrimp myself, especially when I’m on a tight schedule with the family. Or is there a trick to it that I haven’t learned yet? Hmmmm.

Yeah, I take pride in catching my own bait too, when I can. Mullet & menhaden, no problem for the most part. The whole shrimp thing seems to elude me, though.

Just stick with artificials, doa shrimp under a popping cork will produce, mirrolures, spooks, elec. chicken, etc. That’s just one less thing you have to worry about if you don’t know the area well.
