I had the tank drained about a month ago. Filled it up (added Stabil) and it ran fine for 4 outings. Put gas in it on Wednesday. Put it in Thursday and it ran fine for about 1 mile, then it started to bog down. Just like it had bad gas in it. No hole shot and bogs down at full throttle.
Can the gas be tested to see if it is bad?

If you can’t stand behind our soldiers, try standing in front of them.
Fish, run some in a clear glass jar and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then look at the bottom and see if there’s any water or other stuff at the bottom. Could just be water in gas. You got a 4 stroke or 2 stroke?
Look at the bottom of the fuel filter bowl and see if there’s anything in it. Put your jar under the petcock on the bottom of the filter bowl and drain somegas into it. See what that looks like and that will give you an idea of whats in the tank.
I have seen the same thing with a stopped up fuel filter. Does the primer ball get sucked flat? If so that is a dead give away for a bad filter or fuel line. Also does your Yamaha beep when in neutral? Most Yammers have a neautral beep alarm on the engine mounted water seperator.

This is the bad stuff - polished from my SeaPro last season:

there is no other indications except it did sound like it backfired every so often. But I have never heard a 4-stroke backfire while in the water, so I’m not sure thats what it was.

It looks like the gas is good. This it what it looked like after sitting all night.
Where did you get this fuel? It needs to come from the fuel line (before the fuel/water separator) or emptied out of the fuel water separator so you’re looking at fuel from the bottom of the tank.
What does this jar of gas smell like? Does it have a strong gasoline smell or just a faint odor?

It came from the water separator clear bowl. it smells like gas, I will give it a good sniff test when I get home. I can compare it to the lawnmower gas.
It does appear to be light in color.
Glad you like the boat name. (trying to talk the wife into VI)

Most of the 4-strokes also have a filter on the engine … need to check it as well.
I don’t have any experience on 4-stroke O/B’s myself, but try a search -
I’ve seen several discussions on the subject.
