One area is the Broad Creek landing. The access is on the north side of the creek. It is well suited for small boats. The problem with most of the areas is a long paddle from the boat landing to the marshes. There are several more options, but you have to head more towards Beaufort.
Look at a google map of the area and the boat landings. One other reportly good spot is the 7 mile lagoon, but I am not sure about public access (it is an area I want to try this summer as well). There is a kayak rental business right at the gates to Palmetto Dunes and their launch area. Again, just not sure if one can launch their own.
The Alljoy landing in Bluffton on the May River is supposed to be good as well. Check with Bluffton Marine and Sports Supply on Burnt Church Rd. They can help too.
Timing of the tides is important as well. Given that the HH area has 8-10 foot tidal swings, you can get pretty tired just working to paddle.
Marshland boat landing off of marshland rd. you will be in broad creek. If you are staying on hhi it’s your best option. All no wake zones until shelter cove marina. Lots of oyster beds so watch our tides.
Buckingham Landing is a small ramp that is great for canoes and kayaks, or you can go to Haigh Landing right around the corner. From either one you can fish around Pinckney Island. You can see both of them on this map: http://goo.gl/maps/ULlb7
If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
