Glad to hear it Willy. I just put my boat in the shop for a little fiberglass repair. I’m boatless and tied up with work and the holidays, but I will be free the 18th, 20th, and in the afternoon on the 19th. that goes for anyone wanting or needing a fishing partner those days. E-mail me or call me, and yes, a blood oath has been performed on me before.

Good catch, Willy.

Hey fish4…what about those Raritan Bay and Sandy Hookers? Used to spend a lot of my free time between there and Island Beach and all points in between when I lived there.

they are still holed up on the ripping in water between the power lines and nucor find them busting the top on the incoming tide throw some spooks

Same here. I usually stayed between Sandy Hook and Asbury Park though. I had a great little hole right before Sandy Hook on the river side. Hopefully I can find my own little hole here too.

once you learn how to fish for them here, youll have plenty of holes.sadly, some of the best old holes i had are where the gunboats run you off.(around weapons station).eventually you need to try the combahee river.the fishing has been awesome so far,and it isnt even peak time yet.the peak is end of january-beginning of february.in the cooper they will eventually get farther towards the shipyard.when they do i will let you know, and i know some good bank spots.trust me,theres some bigguns in the cooper.they have very little fishing pressure that ive seen over the years.-sandy hook…been there too man, many times.i know the spot around the river you are referring to.we got to trade stories sometime.tight lines!

I’m sitting here in Roanoke Rapids tonight on my way to visit family in Monmouth County. I’ve got a Starcraft 14 and am excited about exploring the Combahee after the holidays. I went down and took a look at one of the landings a few weeks back and have been thinking about doing some chumming around structure that looks promising. I believe in catch and release and just enjoying the whole experience.

Willy, I definatley plan on trying the conbahee. Hopefully very soon. I took a look at my map and it doesnt look very accessable by foot. Is that true or is it time for a new map?
Giacommin, Have fun while youre up there. I lived 2 blocks from the beach in Monmouth Beach until about 4 years ago when I moved to Va. Hated it. WAY too far away from the beach. I moved down here just to get back to the beach. Although I do miss being so close the beach, a nd I havent really figured out the techniques down here, the potential seems really good down here. Be safe on your drive.

Hey Willy! I see you use previously frozen mullet but have you ever tried live mullet this time of year and how has it worked? The reason I ask is that this time of year you can catch live mullet in the hotbox by general dynamics in the cooper when sce&g is discharging warm water. Also, what is the maximum size mullet you use because a lot of the ones you catch at the hotbox are no less than 8 inches. I appreciate any info. Just trying to learn.
