fished cooper the other day with a friend.fished a spot where we had caught alot before and they were there again.we caught 14 between the 2 of us in about an hour and a half.this was flood tide using artificials that worked for me last year.fish ranged from 2 to 9 lbs.i caught some trout also, nuthin worth braggin about though.according to the log book, this brings my total for the season at 36.i usually dont hit this number until february.combahee has slowed some according to friends, but the cooper is the hotspot for now.might note we never saw these fish, they were deep.will not disclose spot, but will say if you fish this area you might see the gunboat.

what smells so fishy about this?was it the 14 in an hour and a half or the 36 for the year?heck,my friend has caught more then twice that many this year,so what?when we find them in the combahee in january and february,in the past we have caught twice that many in a couple of hours or so.nuthin “fishy” about my stories, just truth and facts my friend.just for the record i have been fishing for saltwater stripers for 30 some odd years and between what i learned from the old man and others i actually know a little something about this.i have surf fished from the point at hatteras to northern new jersey, montauk, etc.ive caught a striper over 50 lbs in new jersey, but am still not a member of the families 50-50 club.(thats 2 over 50 lbs in a lifetime)-but youre calling this thread fishy…pleaze…i guess this info makes it even more fishy.

It was better when you started with “nuthin worth braggin about but”… How about a couple pics. willy? All of those fish, you must have at least 3 or 4 pictures.

if i came off sounding like i was bragging, sorry.just these catches really arent that big of a deal to me.ive been doing this every year that i can remember even when they were much more scarce than they are these days.as far as pics,i just dont have any recent ones to show or i would.anyone that knows me knows i used to always present good pics and then it stopped.reason…dropped a 500.00 camera in north folly.bought wife a new one that im not allowed to use except at home on fish i keep.i absolutely dont keep any riverene stripers, sometimes one per year that a friend and i will eat at end of season.my friend absolutely refuses to even come on this site muchless post any of his pics because of having to defend himself on catches that he used to post on here a few years back.im trying to get a camera before the end of the season, and i will show some photos from the combahee in february.we always tear em up in february.on a more positive note…imj glad everyone is getting benifit from this.its the only reason i even post on here anymore. willy

why so “defensive”…you know the truth…therefore…nothing to defend…correct? It just seems “fishy” when such good reports are posted and not one pic(an old one would do) is posted.Ya’ll have x-thousand posts…so there must be ten’s or hundreds of pics of willy and ya’ll with fish!!correct me if I am wrong and I will formally apologize…otherwise lets all of us enjoy a good “fish story”…we all tell 'em:smiley:

hey murrayfish; how about ease up. everyone does not have pictures. even if i had them i have no idea how to post them. sounds more like jealousy from you than fishing lies from him.
just a thought.
Fair enough…Willy RULES!!..for real… but I also thought that some good hearted jesting among fishermen was commonplace.Am I wrong?..by the way I just got back with my first 20#'er and am looking to get into the 20-20 club:smiley:

Murraywisherman, You’re not keeping fish, they’re hitting on every cast, are you going to set your rod down to take a picture? you must not fish much. and you may want to see a doctor about your rapid weight loss - either you got AIDS or you’re anorexic / bulimic. good luck with your health issues and fishin.

Murray Fisherman you must be on freakin crack to imply someone hasn’t caught the amount of fish they claim just because they have’nt posted pics. I’ve probably caught zillions more fish than many people, but I don’t know how to post em here. Thats my new years resolution. I’m gonna get these pics scanned and post em.
you must be on freakin crack to think that a fisherman would not “embelish” .Why all the hate? If all of ya’ll are so sure of my B.S. Call then let’s see something(pic) 1600 sumthin posts surley one of ya’ll have a single pic of willy with a “single” fish… or do you dislike him as much as you do me and never fished with him. Has anyone of ya’ll ever fished with this man?

murray,i have alot of old threads with pics of catches from earlier in the year, mostly north folly.alot of trout and some spottails and flounder.as i said already,i kind of messed up when i dropped that camera and the wife just aint goin for me takin it.im gonna get one soon i hope and can put some stripers on here.i have some huge striper pics, unfortunately they are mostly from before the digital camera came out.but,i might be able to get some on here in the near future…i might add that most every pic i ever put on this site was put on here by the wife.even last year we probably only took pics of 2 or 3 from the cooper or combahee, but now that i see so much interest in the riverene stripers on here,i will promise to post some in february if i can.you other guys ease up a little on murray. willy
