Anyone surf fished on Capers Island?
We plan on tryin to next Friday.
Hope to catch some hooties.
Easy, saw your other post about the float trip. Sounds awesome. We have camped at Capers a lot and it’s totally doable. You can camp on the Southside (off capers inlet) or the Northside (price’s inlet). I like the northside off Price’s – there is a sweet little creek that you’ll see; there is a bar at the mouth that can block you in at low but at high, no problem. It drops off after that the bar some. I would suggest you pull into that creek and anchor to the beach; toss another off stern. You have an early high Sat. a.m., and should be able to get out. People may disagree but I don’t think the tide rips as hard as it does on the Capers Inlet side, and in that creek you’ll be OK. It does rip out of there but it’s protected. If you have to take the southside, I’d put the bow a few feet from the beach at high, let it go dry overnight, then let the tide come back for the morning high and escape. Use a solid stern anchor to hold your position so you don’t drift farther up the beach. There is a wide shallow delta where the creek comes out; go past that and you have a steep drop offs from the beach. North or south side, get the hell off the beach as soon as the tide starts to fall or you’ll get stuck. Surf fishing is generally real good. Have fun and good luck.
