Carla Dee 6/12

Wow what a day. Big Miller Time and krewe fished with me today. Hopefully Mike and BMT can get out again before you head back out of town. Many moments to recount… Autopilot flaked on me running out the jetties… finally figured it out when we started trolling… nothing a little duct tape couldn’t fix… lines in 220’ in the 450s and trolled out. Very few boats fishing to the south today. Trolled out to 420’ and saw a blue marlin coming at the right rigger. I guess she saw a flyer at the same time; next thing you know, said marlin dissapears only to reappear ripping water in front of the rigger; I’m tripping over folks trying to get to the rod from the helm, thinking that she has inhaled the dink and is heading for the squid chain. Instead, a flyer shoots by the boat 15 yds to port. Marlin greyhounds 8x after the flyer. All I could do was stand awestruck at the national geographic moment. Glad she didn’t greyhound into the CD.

Slow fishing from there. Missed well more than our share of mauis for some reason. Also missed two wahoos. Had two other marlin up to no avail. That makes me 0 for 5 on blue marlins since friday. Guess I stepped in some bad juju somewhere. Also had two Awendaw releases on nice fish due to bad communication regarding how to clear teasers. Finished w/ 6 keeper mauis, biggest was 25lbs; 6 black bass; and a large north charleston grunt for color. No luck with the garoupas.

Heard there was a decent dolphin bite in 600’ in the 550s. Fished all day in the 400s, marlin were in 220’, 340’, and 420’…

Red,
I fish offshore all the time, and guarantee you that there is no “golden spoon” involved. I read your other post and saw that you are just 17. Do not jump to conclusions, and don’t make statements that you might later regret.
By your standards, and most anyone’s, I am old, and I got to where I am through a lot of hard work. I am truly blessed to be fishing on the boat that I have been on for the last 6 years, and that did not come to me because of any kind of “golden spoon”. That came by way of, well, whatever.

CD, glad you had a good day.

Nice edit…

And you know what Net Girl

Im tired of this site and tired of the people that are on it…instead of good job for your first time i get put down…ive been put down my whole life it seems…you all really dont know how it is for a kid like me to try to go fishing but he cant because no one will take him…for so many years that was me…yes i have uncles and friends that go all the time…but of course they wont take me and never will…it sucks it really does…but then i get the chance and i go out for the first time ever and i catch something that i think is the best thing in the world and i get put down…if you only knew how that makes people feel you would understand…

don’t sweat it bro. carla w/ just joking around. read his posts and you will see he is actually quite funny. being 17 sucks no matter what you are doing. you keep at it and don’t get your feelings hurt so easy. most of the time we are just kidding around.

What do you mean, 17 rocked! 17x2=a little slower, but still rocks!

Don’t sweat it Red. There is a smart a$$ in every bunch. Especially here on this board. It is easy for people to act like jacka$$es here as there is no personal accountability.

They are most likely mad b/c you catch more fish in an inexpensive little boat than they do on their big ride.

Prepare to be boarded!

Thought that sounds sweet, I am pretty sure that is not the case…

This is not a chawade…

We need total concentwation…

Settle down cowboy. You had an awesome day in a little boat. I was / am giving you a hard time for saying that you caught a decent king. You need to settle down in a big way. Take a breath before you spill something all over yourself and then post it for the world to see on the internet. And oh yeah, thanks for the good laugh.

First, after your headboat school trip, you thrash a man’s business b/c you were only able to keep one dolphin after you cried to your teacher about the mates keeping the ones you reeled in… not too cool for a victimized 17 yo or anyone else. Especially after they gave you a fish and I bet you did not give them a tip.

Being a victim is a bad way to go through life. Counseling may legitimately be in order. Not joking here.

Congrats on your day the other day. I am serious about that. I was very proud when I was younger of all of the fish that I caught. It seems that you caught more dolphin in your little boat than I did in my slightly larger little boat yesterday. Good for you. And for your info, the Carla Dee is a 1978 SeaCraft Sceptre with a 1998 Optimax with almost 1400 hours on it. And yes it is indeed a sweet ride to me.

The bambi comment seemed obvious to me. Perhaps you have not heard of the movie, or you are not a hunter, or you don’t know that juvie kings have spots like bambi. You said you caught a DECENT KING. Well buddy, decent kings generally don’t have their spots (and to spell it out for you, decent whitetail deer generally don’t either, but the fawns (bambies) do have their spots. Calling that a decent king, if it was indeed a juvenile king and not a spanish (research the difference in lateral lines of the fish if you would like to be able to ID them in the future) then was the equivalent of a deer hunter killing a 6 month old, 35 pound fawn, and calling it decent. That is why it was funny).

Having to explain that is just sad. But we all have to learn somewhere.

Furthermore, I am willing to help you out on a couple of conditions, only if you are interested

SOUNDS LIKE AN INTERESTING DAY ON THE POND. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE 18 AGAIN? HA HA:smiley::smiley::smiley: PRETTY FAIR TERMS FOR A TRIP TO THE BLUE WATER ON THE CARLA DEE KID SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER THIS!!!:stuck_out_tongue:

Hey CD-congrats on another decent day. I am jealous that you can go fishing again. We enjoyed fishing with you this weekend and learned a lot. The missed marlin may well be a jinx from us, hopefully it will pass soon. I hope we can get together for swording sometime in the near future. Tight lines. Boris

that is a good lesson on how to get around the right people.

Since this was addressed to me, I feel that I am supposed to respond, except that I really don’t know what to say to you. If your friends and uncles won’t take you fishing, then figure out another way. Carla Dee had some good suggestions…hanging around the dock and helping out are great ideas. Be positive…you sound a bit on the “negative” side.

No one here was putting you down, for as long as you have been on this site, I would think that you should not be surprised by some responses…it happens to everyone.

There is a guy down at Ripley Light Marina who washes up a lot of the boats and takes care of several. He is always looking for some help. That would be a great way to earn some money, and you might even get invited on a boat or two to fish. But it will never happen if you continue with the “poor me” attitude. I am not trying to sound 'mean", I am just being honest with you. CD said it best.

I have been fishing offshore long before you were even a “twinkle in your old man’s eye”, and believe me, you can get far worse r

CD, sorry you did not make it. I am free all summer, if you need an extra hand on the boat, let me know. Not sure if the hubster will let me go offshore with an “18” year old though…

The strip teasers are the jam with less B.S.:smiley:

Boris - the swords are waiting for us to feed them. I am ready to chase them on the luxury yacht. Send me your email through this site - I’ve got an interesting read for you and Eric.

Netgirl - you know you are always welcome if you want to fish with us, just be sure that you know she is no luxury vessel like the Prowess. I would love to have you join us and teach me a thing or fifteen.

Allen - I think I might have to agree…

And for everyone’s reading pleasure, both redfishn and his buddy have emailed me and told me they are excited about helping out. Good for them… we will see… to be continued…

CD, I am hoping to learn from you.

Update to Redfishn4ever…he e-mailed me also, and met me at the marina yesterday. He was supposed to be there at 10 this am to possibly start a job…as CD said…to be continued…
