I have one two Carolina Skiffs for sale…both would be great for gigging or shrimping.
2000 J16 side console J16 Carolina Skiff with a 40 hp Mercury 2-stroke and galvanized trailer with new spare, new fenders, new carpet, new LED trailer lights, Garmin 498C GPS/Sounder, bilge pump sump added with Rule auto bilge pump, 12 gal built in tank w/fill cap on casting platform, rod holders, cup holders, storage under bench seat topped with upholstered seats in good condition. All working. I re-did all electrical including nav lights and added a 12 vdc accessory plug. Complete and ready to go…$3500 OBRO. Strong running Merc with SST prop and no issues…runs like a champ.
My son’s 17’ CC Carolina Skiff w/85 hp Yamaha 2-stroke, Garmin 498C GPS/Sounder, swing-back cooler seat with new PVC rodholders installed, casting platform w/rails, 12 gal under-console tank, new electrical panel and wiring, new w-s fuel filter, new Rule auto bilge pump, new nav lights, new LED trailer lights, new engine control cables. Engine gone thru and tested by Trae Everett, who will vouch for it being a really strong, low-hours engine. Cranks almost instantly like a 4-stroke. I added aluminum angle skegs under hull to stop the infamous “Carolina Skiff Slide” in turns. This boat is fast with the 85, but sips fuel. I will not lie, the trailer is sound but ugly…it’s galvanized with a lot of rust. I changed bearings on one side and added a new hub on the other. The axle is almost new. The tongue was rusted badly, so I used double-sandwiched heavy aluminum angle to reinforce with new galvanized bolts (see photo). It’s fine for around here…I just would not trailer it 200 miles. I have two new plastic fenders, but have not yet installed them. Ready to go…$3500 OBRO.
