Cat in my Boat!

Ive trapped a ton around our house using the little traps they sell at feed stores and such. Put a can of tuna in there but dont open it all the way. Just punch a few holes in the top. Can use it over and over. Used to have a ton of strays around that would chase the chickens and rabbits. Trap them and take them to the pound or whatever you gotta do.

Or antifreeze

And the Forum comes to the rescue yet again!
Thanks for all of the “Ideas”! Heading over to petsmart to check on Bitter Apple spray and the CatStop Ultrasonic (I’m thinking same results as strobes and snakes?) - on the way back a little stop off at Tractor Supply for a trap. My thinking is, I will spray the area and setup the CatStop in the boat - if these two fail then I will catch the things in the trap. And in response to PalmerScott - I like it but if I’m going to the trouble of an electric fence then we are going 120 Volt - 100% Kitty Bar-B-Que!
And I love Skirt Chasers post about everything except “CATS”! Bring the baby kitty home feed it and turn it loose on the neighborhood - its okay - remember - you can’t control a cat! I hate Cats! and just for the record, I never cared for the Cat in Hat book either!!!

Can I write this expense off on my taxes?

Can’t this thing go any faster?

glue rat traps…cheap and funny as hell

“Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him”

Get a Dog that doesnt like cats and put a nice bed for it under your boat cover. Leave some water for it and a tiny bit of food! Nature will work it all out thereafter!

Good plans… Try to do the nice thing (these critters could actually be someone’s pets), before going with antifreeze or a .22 cal round. Your 10 year old will appreciate you for it, AND you may just be able to use this “gesture” as a barganing point in the future her(?). Give the local vet’s office a call if the Sonic thingy and the spray don’t work out. They will know what works.

My 2 cents? The moth ball method… (scattered about, but in bowls) around the boat will keep out all sorts of things. Won’t have to worry about spiders or squirrels either. The strobe light idea sounds fun, especially this time of year!

Even if you don’t like cats, they are still just trying to make a living. What nature programmed them to do. If they do damage your bote, I doubt anyone here would spill a tear over their demise, but I wouldn’t wanna take a chance on killing a neighbors pet. Not yet, anyway.

PS: If a fly lost it’s wings, would it be called a walk?

Got a 130lb German Shepard that just loves cats, we lease him for a week cheap.

DRICE,

If that sheppard will get rid of the cats AND the bad neighbors - I’m in! And just like Mastercard PRICELESS!!

Skeeter - realizing that these animals are pets (maybe even another 10 year olds) I’m trying the humane thing. But come on, what animal other than a CAT can you let loose on your neighborhood LEGALLY??? Heck, most cat lovers only see their precious felines at feeding time - the majority of the time they are sitting on the neighbors car OR in the neighbors BOAT! Not trying to take over the fishing report but hoping to get an idea or two that might work BEFORE things turn ugly! I’ve got way to much money invested for a cat to take up residence.

Not telling you to do anything to get in trouble, however, you have to get rid of them. I had a Grady cabin boat at DI marina. Called them mothers day to put it in the water for me, “Sorry sir, we have a problem”. The neighborhood cat had kittens inside MY boat. Sold it a year or so later with cat hair still in it. Good luck.

This is some good offshore report here, how to run off puzzy !

Yea Capt. - when its 7 foot at 8 sec. blowing NNE I figure its a good time for a Puzzy report!! :stuck_out_tongue: Never in my life would I think I would be trying to run it off!!! On a serious note - Thanks for all the responses and the urgency to rid the boat of these things. Was in St. George today and asked an older gentleman about it - he walked over and handed me a jug of something?? Sprinkled all around the boat and I’m not sure but took me 2 minutes to catch my breathe! That should hold em’ off for a day or so until the Ultrasonic makes it in!
And just to keep with the report format - would you recommend a 7/0 or 8/0 circle for catching Puzzy??

Call the pound, I know that in N Charleston they will set traps for free. You just call them when they are full.

There is a spray can that has a motion sensor that blasts condensed air if the sensor is tripped. I use it to keep my cat away from a rug he claws. Works great, pet stores have it for about $30.00

When I got caught with my hand down my pants at school, I had to keep it there for a week…what a week!!

soak meatballs in anti freeze= problem solved

Scarecrow - motion activated sprinkler. Or motion activated alarm. I used to use it to keep cats out of teh kids sandbox, worked like a charm. Also - I had a momma cat move into our ski boat one winter and have a litter of kitties. Imagine what that looked like! That was a clean up nightmare!

Calabash Fishing Fleet

I bought one of these at home depot a while back when I was having the same problem.

Baited with a chicken bone. I caught several cats that were getting in my boat and several more that were cr@pping on my patio furniture.

We humanely “relocated” the varmints into another neighborhood ten or fifteen miles away.

Problem solved.

We’ve had fun with it since then, too. You can catch squirrels with it using sunflower seeds, and pretty much any other kind of small animal that your kid wants to see up close.

Good luck.
