Caught a few spottails...

G8rnsc & I hit the water at 8 yesterday…around 34 degrees! Water temp had fallen to 50 degrees. We tried several drops before one hit Blair’s bait and I got one over slot. Next, a 27" finally bit my mud minnow in a high tide pocket that has not produced in a couple of years. We left there and went to where we had been wearing the trout out on the bottom…but no takers. Next drop for reds was nada, then we moved across the creek to another drop and I lost two bruisers in a row. The fish headed for parts unknown like frieght trains on back to back casts…and the hook pulled outta both…came back with muddie still intact! After that, we had to come in so G8rnsc could take dog to vet at lunchtime.

It was good to be on the water despite the cold. We discussed the two I lost as being at least 52" long if they were an inch. Maybe longer…

Always enjoy your posts. You seem to have a close knit group of friends that have a lot of fun together. Nice report!

Might as well clear this up before Jighead starts some crap. That thing around my neck was to pull up over my face to protect from the cold - supplied and offered by Wildlife. Had I known it would show up in that picture - his camera would have joined the cell-phone at “telephone island”.

I’ve been waiting to see if Jiggy is lurking 'round…

I know they were at least 52", I think I have also hooked at least one of them in the past.

Lurking? You guys demonize me for no reason! I wouldnt make any unwarranted comments about your oh so precious fishing ensembles, but you could have borrowed my purple pants and orange shoes to add some zest. Oh snap!
Glad yall caught fish.

Nice fish, looks like they still have some weight to them so they must still be eating something.
