With the help of some tips from my other post we finally caught a bull redfish off the surf about two hours before low tide
The shark was huge but bit through our leader as it was not metal

Great Job!! Know the Red’s should get bigger as we get closer to fall.
Using a heavy mono/fluoro leader with a circle hook might assist in fewer shark bite offs. Doesn’t seem to bother the Red Fish bite, and the circle hooks usually set in the corner of their jaw. Tail whipping your line is also reduced, if your leader is long enough.
I only use single strand wire when targeting Sharks. Sometimes doubling the wire, ending with a haywire twist, then closing it with a barrel knot, on both ends of the leader, for bigger Sharks.
BTW…I moved your post to the “surf/pier fishing” forum.
Awesome
Thanks for the pictures, keep 'em coming
Pretty work! The next thing I’d do is learn to tie your own rigs…only a matter of time before the store bought rig will fail (snap swivel will open). Youre off to a great start, thanks for the report!!
great report!!
Good stuff…
I have only caught one Bull Red surf fishing Folly (county Park side). 41 inches if you can believe it. Caught him using a big head on shrimp. Only fish I caught that day…only bite I had as well. I am new to the site and don’t know how to upload a pic or I would have lol. Nice Bull Mr! Curious to know what kind of shark you hooked?
