Um… has anyone caught a blue this big??? Something kept munching on our shark baits and finally the big circle hook caught this guy in the corner of the mouth. I didn’t realize I was throwing poppers in New Jersey! Holy cow!
Nice fish! we are definitely seeing a run of big blues like we haven’t seen in a while.
David posted pic of one bout the same size last week , they seem to be more frequent as the water warms:smiley:

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Yes, been awhile. Used to catch them like that at folly pier until beach nourishment and the water turned blue
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
We caught them like that around the jetties and the reefs years ago. Normally March/April and then they were gone and all we caught were the smaller ones.
People out of Florida were reporting two weeks ago catching unusually large blues. Maybe we are getting some of them too. Thats a big one. They make great cut bait for reds and sharks:smiley:
They are catchable from folly pier currently.
Call those chopper blues around Hatteras. They used to school up and chase the grey trout up on the beach. You could literally scoop the trout up with your hands by the dozens
