Ok, Its that time of year again. We are having our by the numbers tournament…
Basically, most spots wins…
you can score one fish per week (5 weeks) Most spots on a single fish for that week wins the weekly prize… Most aggregate spots for the entire tournament takes the grand prize.
Some big name companies came up huge in prizes… definately worth the $10 entry fee… And all entries get a free tournament T-shirt…
Also we will be having the captains meeting this thursday Oct. 27th at the West Ashley store at 6pm…
Free Food! provided by Bessingers… Free Beer, and door prizes and raffles…
Get on it boys… this is a great event and we look forward to all of yall playing along…
This one is a no-brainer: Ten bucks for a T shirt and 'cue and a chance to win prizes. Me and the boy are participating. I’m pretty sure many SSWA members are too. Should be a lot of fun. We had a member catch one this week that he wishes he caught next week. Looked like pepper!
And the Winner is… 606 spots on one Redfish http://0.tqn.com/d/saltfishing/1/0/P/F/DSC02112.JPG
(I don’t know how to upload a photo, maybe someone smarter could do it.)
OK, so the fish was caught in Ft. Meyers FLA but thats sure one unique redfish.
606 spots would be hard to beat… But the reason we made the grand prize and aggregate total was to level the playing field a bit… that way one freak fish wouldn’t trump someone who fished and consistantly turned in fish in all five weeks… Anybody has a shot!
Once again, don’t forget that the captains meeting is this Thursday! Free food and beer… and you will be able to register there if you havn’t already
Howdy! I’m going to take a stab in the dark and see where it sticks. The family is driving up from Jacksonville next month. My 6-y-o son and I will have a day to kill while the wife attends some training on the 12th. I’m trying hard to get him pumped on fishing and so far he’s on me nearly every night to take him to our retention pond. He loves catching the bluegill and tears them up. That’s why we became Team Fishbusters. I thought it would give him something to be proud of. I’d like to take him fishing while we’re there and someplace relatively calm where we could take the kayak out would be splendid. If we could catch a red for the tourney even better.
I know we don’t like to share our secret fishing spots but I’m hoping someone will make an exception. I’ve tried reading the inshore reports but they really don’t help since I have no idea where the locations are that people are talking about. If someone would be willing to PM me some places to try (fairly close to the launch and easy launches preferred since I have a young one with me) it would be greatly appreciated. I hadn’t even considered bringing the yak until I saw you guys were doing this tourney.
And two questions:
It looks like the shortest saltwater license I can get is 14 days. Is this correct?
Can I buy that at Charleston Angler when I stop in to register or should I just buy it online?
Yes 14-day is the shortest for non-residents and You can get your license at any of the Charleston Anglers and we can probably point you to a good spot to launch as well. Good Luck!!
