Ho!</font id=red> Ho!</font id=green> Ho!</font id=red> Yes sir, it is that time of year once again, when Christmas trees are sold on every corner, the toy stores are full of screaming kids, the malls are packed, and you wait in line or sit in traffic mulling over what gifts to give your friends and family. This year I am required to provide my girlfriend, that claims I “have everything already,” a list of gift items she can choose from since I am “next to impossible to buy for.” Since many folks seem to have trouble purchasing gifts for the avid outdoorsman, I thought it may be appropriate to contact a couple of experts on the hottest selling gift items this year.
I stopped in earlier this week and spoke with two of CharlestonFishing.com sponsors, Ollie Burwell of Barton and Burwell Fishing Supplies and Ken Suggs with the Reel Johns. For those unaware, both of these shops are located west of the Ashley in Charleston; Barton and Burwell’s is located in the South Windermere Shopping Center behind Belks and The Reel Johns is located on Wesley Drive between Highway 61 and Highway 17. I asked these guys to provide a list of their top 10 most popular selling Christmas gifts. These gift ideas are provided in ascending order according to price starting around $2 on up to just over a $100. Hopefully these lists can provide some insight for that impossible to buy for sportsman.
Ollie Burwell of Barton and Burwell’s Fishing Supplies recommended the following items:
1) Lil Sucker - These disc shaped Koozies wrap around a 12 ounce bottle or can and when placed on a flat surface like the top of a console use suction pressure to keep the drink from spilling. A great stocking stuffer!
2) Hatteras Lures – Ollie says it best, “Reasonable priced offshore lures that catch fish!”
3) Yo Zuri gift pack – Barton and Burwell’s has these on sale and they are first come first serve basis. A 4 lure gift pack at an exceptional price!
