Chumming

With all the mullets around at the moment I was wondering if I made chum of them and freeze them in blocks, can I improve my fishing results.
Anybody tried it for surf or pier fishing? Any ideas or am I wasting my time?

The fish are already in the surf. No need for chum to attract them.
Not worth the risk of causing something awful to happen to anyone in the water.

I could almost guarantee if you throw a chum block in the surf, you will attract every shark and stingray with in 1/4 mile. Now, if thats what you want to catch, go for it. You trying to catch Red drum? I have yet to catch a big Red on cut bait, this season. And personally I never use cut mullet in the surf anyway.

I have respect for your track record as angler, so thanks for your reply. I am new in this area. I started off fishing with live finger mullets but never caught any fish. I did not think of trying cut mullet for my experience is it is only good to catch sharks or tarpon and other unwanted species. One day a local fisherman told me about all the fish he caught on cut bait. I tried it and caught lots of reds, some blues, some black drum and sea trout.
As for the chumming idea, I found this site with lots of ideas for chumming. http://www.floridagofishing.com/fish-chum/fish-chum-index.html
Thanks for listening.
