As we worked our way down the bank I pointed to an area of nervous water ahead of us and told my dad that it looked like fish. As we came closer I was keeping my eye on the area ahead of us and out of the corner of my eye right next to the boat I caught something moving. I looked down to see a very large number of redfish swimming right past the boat. I cast my lure into the middle of the school and watched as several fish peeled off from the school to compete for my lure. I watched as one fish beat out the others and quickly inhaled the lure. The fight was on and I was then able to watch the same scene unfold on my dad’s lure. We were able to catch a few fish before the tide came up and the school disappeared, but the experience is one that I will remember forever. If you primarily fish our inshore waters in the warmer months you know that if you can see deeper than a foot you are doing pretty well.
It is not uncommon to see down 4-6 feet in the winter months and being able to see the fish and watch them chase and catch your bait as a whole new element of excitement to fishing.
