Just going to go ahead and head off any future misconstruances* by any tater haters on here who I know will like to pick on Clemsonites for their team not being “as good as people said.”
I personally never thought we would be 5-0 right now in the season. Also, I think Clemson will drop either the NC State game and/or the South Carolina game for particular respective reasons.
I think that if Clemson does, somehow, get past an ACC championship game and into the playoff, we’ll be looking at an SEC West team while a Big 10 team faces TCU. Yes, I think TCU will beat Baylor, and I think Utah will drop a game somewhere. Just the way it’ll have to go down because we all know the committee is not going to leave out an SEC champion, now are they?
Anyhow, we’ll get beat in a playoff if we make it there because the other team will have a chance to game plan us, and the team has glaring deficiencies on special teams, offense and defense despite being great in most areas. You’re only as strong as your greatest weakness.
Like I said though, we’re going to lose to NC State or the coots as those games are on the road against opponents who will pull out all the stops to beat us this year. Not really worried about FSU this year. It will be us pulling out all the stops on them after what happened the last two seasons- especially the season before last in Clemson, which seemed to be a turning point for the team’s culture on defense…
That is all. You now have my prediction in writing.
I’d rather face the SEC WEST winner than TCU. Clemson would compete better in a lower scoring game if lightning strikes and you make it to the playoff this year. I don’t think you could outscore TCU or Baylor for that matter.
NC State is a stumbling block for Clemson, yes. I’ve been at the last 2 NCSU games in Raleigh, when they curb stomped us in 2011 and when Clemson tried to blow it in 2013. I lived up there for a few years. The place will surprise you for being a sub par football school. It’s a rough crowd.
But I don’t see that loss happening this year. They’re horrible. They still dwell on Glennon and the problems of not finding a suitable replacement…3 years later. Doeren hasn’t exactly done a stellar job. In 3 seasons at NCSU, he’s managed to win only 3 conference games. 2 or 3 ACC wins for NC State this year is my prediction, and Clemson won’t be one of them.
Now it’s out there. I’m not claiming that Clemson will finish unbeaten, but my prediction is that Clemson rolls through Raleigh this year.
Dam man, NC STATE? I think the biggest chance to lose is either Miami or Florida St. I can see it being the Coots also, but I got a feeling that’s another 63-17 game again.
What I see happening is this team gets a little better each week, by the time Florida St. comes to tigertown it’s too late for them and my Tigers roll on. Like I said before, they lose in the playoffs, but depending on the draw in the first round, they could make it all the way to the NCG.
Of course, I’m probably wrong, but it won’t be the first time.
After what I’ve seen so far this year, they could lose to anyone left on the schedule. It’s been a wacky year with injuries and one or two more on the O-line could tank this season. If by some miracle they stay healthy, they could run the table and find themselves in a playoff spot if they’re lucky. After what happened to FSU last year, I find it unlikely that an ACC team gets any favorability even undefeated. The powers that be would elect to put a 1 loss ND team ahead of Clemson even though they lost to them, it’s the nature of the beast. However, after watching Stanford last night, I think ND ends up with 2 losses. I also think Stanford is the PAC12 champ over Utah. Shoe in’s are the BIG10 Champ, SEC Champ and PAC12 Champ. That leaves the BIG12 and ACC fighting for the last spot, the BIG12 doesn’t have the championship game as the added metric but, it won’t matter this year. I’m thinking Clemson may be on the outside looking in even undefeated unless they blow FSU out. Let’s face it, the only team left on the schedule that gets any respect this year is FSU and even then it isn’t much.
NCSt is going to be a tough game, in Raleigh (where Clemson always plays like crap) and on Halloween Night. That to me is a trap game even though the Pack sucks this year. I wouldn’t count out BC either, they have one helluva defense. Miami throws the ball all over the place and the Tigers tend to give up some big plays at times letting teams back into the game. Sakkerliner will be tough only that they’ll play with a lot of emotion early but, they just don’t have the players to keep up with a healthy Clemson this year. Then Clemson has to play most likely Pitt in a Champ game.
Lots of football to be played yet, I’m not ready to say it’s a lock at all. I’ve said all along this is a 10-2 or 11-1 team but not a playoff contender.

Once again, you take things out of context.
When there’s nothing else to play for in the season and its highly doubtful to go bowling, a victory over a rival becomes way more important. It’s something to build off for next season. You’re a smart guy; I don’t know why you deduct IQ points when you log onto CF.
When Clemson is competing for a conference championship, yes, a non conference game is not as important.
