Clemson next year

It was said many times this year that next year was the one most Clemson fans looked to for their shot at a NC. With so many players on the defensive side of the ball declaring for the NFL change the equation for you or do you still feel like next year is the year? Not looking to start another battle thread, I am truly interested as I do not follow Clemson recruiting very closely. From the outside looking in it seems pretty tough to replace all of these players especially the two best pass rushers and line play seems to be a tough thing to know what you really have until they hit the field.

The second string guys have been stepping up and the recruiting class seems pretty stout to me.

How many folks knew who Shaq Lawson was LAST YEAR? Not a name you heard much because he was backup for Vic Beasley.

Nice that it’s on your mind. We’ll be fine. Same questions were asked last year.

Loon it was a sincere question. There is only one game I care to see you lose next year as is the case every year. I guess I was just surprised to hear how many were leaving this year. I can’t imagine the coaches planned for the number to be this high.

“Everybody wants to talk about who’s left and what you don’t have,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said. “Sometimes, you have addition by subtraction. I mean, I don’t get caught up in all that. I worry about who we’ve got. Vic Beasley is the eighth pick in the draft, and, ‘Oh, my God, what are we going to do?’ And I’m like, we’ve got a guy named Shaq Lawson. He’s pretty good. We’re going to be okay. And you go and recruit some of these other guys, that’s what makes college football so much fun.”

a little more concerned, yes. But we have some really good guys waiting in th wings just like we did this year.

We only lose Mclain and Peak on offense and we will be even better with Mike Williams and Cain back.

It will offset and I think with Deshaun at QB we will be back in the playoff.

Don’t worry about the Tigers, the defense is going to be stout again. Offense will be unreal behind that line and the skill guys returning.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Quite frankly, I’m glad to see TJ Greene go. I’d like to have Lawson and Dodd back, but there are some really good ones behind them. The safeties are in good shape as well. The last 4 or five recruiting classes have been really good and I’m not too worried about it.

Alexander hurts more than the others lost off Defense. O line will be better as long as we don’t lose a few to injury.

The issues with the players lost off defense will be cured after a few games early next year and development- same thoughts I had before this past season. We play Auburn first, and I am not sure what it will look like after that. We should have Louisville and NC state at home, and those are the two teams who will have the best QB’s to pick apart inexperienced DE’s and corners the most. FSU is supposed to be getting a good one, and that will probably be the key to our goals next year- how we play in Tally.

Greene is responsible for about 8 blown TD plays this year… Someone else has got to step up and be at least as good I would think. Alexander is huge. The ends and secondary make one another look good IMO. We’re supposed to have a very good DT coming that should play early, and we’ve got a few DE’s to compete and see what happens there as well.

My take on everything is that we’re getting more of our choice for recruits now rather than having classes that are missing pieces around a few great catches.

Next year, we’ll lose Watson, Leggett, Gallman, Scott and that will be a big deal, but that OL group will be back one more time with what appears to be a very good freshman QB for the 2017 season. As long as we maintain or improve on DL and OL from year to year, we’re going to be more successful than we’ve seen in the last 25 or so years IMO.

If anything, the guys leaving free up more scholarships that we can use to fill needs elsewhere. Jeff Scott and Venables know what they’re doing with these kids. Dabo is the closer.

We’ll be better next year just as everyone expects, IMO.

I’ll be worried if we lose Tank. Otherwise I think we have some good guys stepping up. We need at least 2 good leaders on defense to stick around. Boulware and Tank will get the rest of the D up to par. If this was Kevin Steele trying to reload, I’d be worried. But BV is the man.

I’m surprised Dabo is letting any of them go pro early, that’s not like him.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

Fritz, what round is Spurrier getting drafted? I heard he left early this year too.

Nah...Back then he was building the product and needed the players you are tactfully inferring he may have persuaded a few. When the cupboard is getting stocked at the rate it is now with top shelf product, no need to get greedy.

If the team goes to rehab and Deshaun Watson stays healthy…they should not have more than 2 losses.

Key West 1720 115 HP Johnson Saltwater.

The offense should be good enough to win 10 themselves.

The defense will have some growing pains but the talent is there

We’re loosing less on D this year than last. What’s stepping up and coming in is just as good as what is leaving. You don’t get players of #2’s talent but once in a while. He’ll be tough to replace at “his level”

I firmly believe if Mike Williams would have played all year we would have been an even more explosive offense. Cain played good, but not Mike Williams good. If we could have vertically stretched both sides of the field with Cain and Williams, it would have opened up a world of other opportunities. I’m excited about next year
