Caleb and I will be there for the first event this year! For those that have not participated and enjoy competitive fishing, this is a great circuit to fish in. The payout is much better than IFA, and the entry is half as much. Last year’s winner in the first event won $7,000.00 as there were 70 or so boats entered. I am looking forward to another fun season with a great group of guys that also happen to be some of the finest fishermen in the area. Good luck to all participants!

Is it charleston south or north?

Kane, the LCRC will have two events in Charleston this year. Red’s Icehouse will be hosting both of our Charleston Events. (Thank you Red’s ) So there really won’t be a North/South event.

Looking forward to the 2013 season. There are a lot of nice folks that fish the LCRC series. Congratulations to Tim & Chappy (Team Coleman House) for winning the Championship in 2012. Raddaddy & Caleb placed a very close 2nd and had a freaky looking 21" fish that weighed 5.05 lbs.

whats the typical buy in?

“Fish On”

$200.00 per. Boat.

Are these tourneys normally won by pros and guys that fish them all the time or does a weekend warrior team win these sometimes?

I just got here from the midwest and while I don’t know the local waters at all (don’t even have a boat yet), I’m excited at the prospect of finding a partner and fishing some of these redfish tourneys.

Or, I’m I better off throwing my $200 out the window and staying home?

I don’t think you could define anyone that fishes them a “pro” as my definition of that label is someone who makes a living fishing inshore tournaments which is an impossibility. There are, however, plenty of licensed captains that fish, along with lots of guys who are very flexible with their work hours that spend 100+ days on the water. As with any competition that requires knowledge, skill, and experience, most tournaments are won by those who have put lots of hours on the water. With that said, though, you only weigh 2 fish, and if you are on the “right” school, you could have the 2 you need in short order. I encourage anyone who is consistently catching slot fish (on artificials) around tournament time to give it a shot. If nothing else, you are able to learn a lot through other’s experiences at weigh-ins and meet some really good people.

Thanks Rad, that’s what I figured. Obviously tourney fishing is a skill but there’s also some luck involved. My problem is that I just don’t know the waters, whereas most of these guys with experience probably have several honey holes to check.

If I find someone with a boat, I might put up the entry fee for us and fish for the helluva it. Who knows what could happen.

Any chance you could post the results of these tournaments as the season goes instead of just spamming the site looking for participants? Have never understood why tournaments don’t follow all the way through with information on the results. You might even pickup more participants in the following tournaments just by posting the results and showing how much $$$$ can be won.

“I have tomorrow open!”

Will do Capt. Fritz!

I will personally take responsibility for placing the results, or a hyperlink to the results on CF.com this year.

A guaranteed payout for 1st place is $3,000.00. You can generally figure a 1st place payout of $100.00 per. Team participating. For example, 50 teams would equal a $5,000.00 payout to 1st. Place. The more teams that participate, the further down we pay. For example, 30 teams we may pay down 3 spots, while 50 teams may pay down 5 spots.

What are the requirements for this tournament do u have to be a certint age a captains licenses or just anyone with 200$ i just plan to do this later on when i get a little older just for kicks and giggles to see what its like

Will anyone associated with the organization get the rules and regulations posted on the website? Not everyone is local and planning is required. If the website doesn’t go live and open up, they are limiting who can and will participate.

Working on some revisions to the rules. They should be posted shortly.

Maybe a stupid question— are you weighing live or dead bass?

You can’t catch fish on a dry line

There is a stiff penalty for dead fish weighed.

Thanks Rad, my Mckee or Seahunt don’t have capability to keep a 23" fish alive but great to hear no fish are killed. Good luck!

DKscout177,

No age requirement to fish the event. Participants 16 and under actually qualify for our Youth Angler award.

Per. SCDNR:
Minimum Age of Boat Operators: In SC, boat operators under the age of 16 must complete a boating course approved by SCDNR to operate a boat or personal watercraft with a 15 HP motor or greater, unless accompanied by an adult age 18 years or older.
