Clowney & Watkins

both on the this list. Clowney the obvious number #1.

Pretty cool for our small state.

Yes it is pretty cool. But Sammy is not from this little state…

yeah man, he is from Ft Meyers, Fl. Meant playing for our 2 schools in this small state.

Let’s assume Clowney is the #1 draft pick next year.
If he went to Clemson, does he even go in the first round?

Yes. But not #1. Realistically being the best player on one of the worst defenses would make it tough to be #1

Of course he does. Why would he not?

Disagree with you Fish…think he would go #1 either way. Its been known by the entire football world that he was NFL ready from day one and the best defensive end prospect in over 20 years.

Also, you could say based off everybody’s opinion of the ACC that he would have better numbers / sack totals.

our defense would have been much better last year if he played for Clemson as the main issue with our secondary was the lack of a effective pass rush.

Not a surprise we disagree on this.
If you play a team with 1 great DE…do you feed him? No you design the game plan away from him. Because of that, I dont think he will have better numbers at CU.
He would be a huge talent on any team but the rest of the team helps.

So, based on this, you can never again say that a ACC player racked up better stats because of how weak the ACC was than compared to if they played in the SEC.

DE is pretty much the only position on defense where the rest of the team does not matter from a production standpoint. Unlike linebackers who rely on the DL to open holes for them or DB’s who need their LB’s and DL’s to get a good pass rush because sooner or later a WR is going to break free if the QB has too much time.

Wow. I can believe you just said that.
None of what I said has anything to do with ACC vs SEC. So you are wrong there.

And the DE statement may be the dumbest thing you have said. Lets play a game of what ifs.
What if your LB’s suck or your DB’s suck? would that help you DE? Or hurt?
What if the rest of the line was terrible? Would that help your DE? or hurt?

Oh wait, by your logic, they do not matter

I said Clowney would have better stats in the ACC because ACC OL’s are not as good as in the SEC. You implied that would not matter

"If your line backers and DB’s suck that’s not typically going to affect your DE’s ability to get to the QB. What’s so hard to understand about that? "

You know what, you are right. If the DB’s can not keep coverage on the WR to allow the DE time to get to him…It will not effect the DE ability to get to the QB…but it might effect him getting there before the QB throws it

Not many DB’s can cover a WR for more than 4 or 5 seconds regardless of how good the DB is.

Clemson DE Vic Beasley had 9 sacks last year and he only played 1/2 of the snaps because he was so bad at run defense. We had awful DBs last year.

How do you explain how he got to the QB so often in his limited playing time? Because he was quick off the edge and able to get to the QB very quickly, just like Clowney only Clowney is 3x as good.

Crappy ACC QBs

BG

Clowney would’nt go #1 at Clemson because he never would have chosen an ACC school. Bama or Cocky is what he chose b/w. Hypothetical does not count cause Clowney would look like a huge moron in orange and purple…just like the rest of CU players.

Key West 1720 115 HP Johnson Saltwater.

Clowney would be the number one pick at any division one school… but I guess we’ll never know. He’s a big part of the reason for SC’s success in 2012.

Are you serious? Mario Williams ring a bell? Remember where he played? How about Julius Peppers (#2)?

How about the guy from CENTRAL MICHIGAN this year.

If there is a guy who is clearly the best ball player, he’s getting drafted first.

Most of you know that I don’t follow the NFL. I also don’t follow the draft. However I did hear about the Central Michigan guy. Kinda breaks the mold there.
