Cobia

Woke up at 5 am and saw that there were storms scattered around so got out early and in front of the eastern moving storms. Couldn’t find bait at bulls creek, haig point or south hilton head. We had 4 packs of dead manhaden and a few live croakers caught the day before. Seas were nice heading out and very tolerable for the wife in the 23 foot sea fox dual console. 1 hour later , first boat to arrive at the Ross . 8 am first cobia, nice around 35 lbs. then the Calvary arrived. By 10 am , 20 boats! Everyone seemed to find a spot but the bites were slow. Thought about leaving at 11:30 but wife said we need one more. At 12:30 all hell broke loose and it seemed everyone hooked up!!! Wife caught a real nice maybe 45-50 lbs and I managed a 35 pounder as well. Also caught a trailer on a pink hoagie but too small to keep. Headed back around 1:15 and caught a few showers but nothing bad. This is my first year fishing for cobia and can’t say how much fun we had!!! Hope all got back safely.

heck yeah… if we didn’t have company i was thinking of the same thing… glad to see they are still out and about…
