How do y’all think the cold front we have coming through this weekend will affect bull reds in the surf? Will it be enough to send some of them scurrying for warmer water?
I would hope one cool night or so wouldn’t affect the water temp, in the ocean, enough to send them off shore. If anything it would push the fish in the harbor and rivers out into the surf. I’ve picked up nice fish all the way through Feb. The Bulls will still be around, don’t let the cold and wind keep YOU in.
I think this weekend will see more action compared to the past few weeks.
Just my prediction. It’s PAST due time for my bull red this year, so … it better, amirite?

Would it be worth going out with the wind that is suppose to kick in though? It’s suppose to be somewhere in the 25-30 mph range. I couldn’t imagine trying to fish through that in the surf. Especially with how cold it is suppose to be. Around what time do the bull reds start to break away from the area? I have still yet to catch one and I’ll be pretty bummed if I end up missing my chance. Hopefully they will still be around next weekend.
Looks like Sat. wind will be blowing off the the beach. Even at 25-30, if you can stand the chill, is not that bad to fish in. Bait usually stays put pretty good with 3oz. Sun., on the other hand, will be from the NE. Current will probably be pretty quick plus the wind pushing line. But I have read that the Bull Reds LOVE the current.
