See, I would just change the rigging on the pole for the situation
Really, there are two 5-wt fly rods that my sons mostly use. I use one when I go trout fishing without them.
The 7-8 was for steelhead/Salmon. Which, as I think about it right now is in prime swing in Michigan

its all good remo. we have 5 fly rods in the house. a 5 wt, a 4-5 wt, the misses rod, (for trout in PA) and three 8 wt rods. 2 of the 8 wt rods are very beginner rigs the other is my sage salt water rig which still needs to be christened.
when we go fishing for whatever species we are after i always have my āgo toā rod and two or three others for specific uses. the ābe preparedā boyscout comes out so i feel your pain 12 footer. i just wish i had an all around rod to handle whatever situation and just change the rig presentation. i guess if that were possible i wouldnt have CFD.
Itās pretty bad when you get off work in the morning and first thing you do is look at the folly weather cam to see what the water looks like. then the thought of coming over there crosses your mind, when you live 400 miles away.

Yea, I put an egg sucking leech right in front of her nose while she was cleaning a redd for herself.......
sorry for hijacking the thread like that.was actually just trying to point out that this would be a good excuse for a get together once i get my skills back up.winter is pretty long for surf fishermen once the fish quit.i know some of us freshwater fish and sneak after other certain saltwater fish, but it gets long waitin for march.i will start a new thread.again my apologies.
possibly Cabelas, it was more than rumors, they wanted tax breaks from the state and the state said it would not be fair for other big retailers to do so. have not heard anything more. I know they were looking at land near the āAntlers interchangeā, the intersection of 78 and rivers. heard rumors of some construction going on near there. donāt know if itās all related. Cabelas is not saying anything. got my ear to the ground on this one.
back home in jersey, the closest cabellas is about 2 hours away⦠we took many weekend trips to cabellas! if they did open one here, i would quit my job and work there!
