Conner Shaw

Shaw is 17-3 as a starter and 10-0 at home, and yet we still want to talk about how Thompson deserves to be the starter.

Shaw has completed 300 of 449 passes (66.8 percent) for 3,627 yards, 32 touchdowns and 15 INTs in his three-year career. He had a career game against Missouri in 2012, completing 20 of 21 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns, and he led the Gamecocks to a 35-7 romp over Georgia, completing just six passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns.

Without looking at the QB rankings it would seem those are slightly above average passing stats for a 3 year D1 QB.

having said that yes he wins games. Its all about his feet!

Do people really think Thompson should start? I don’t necessarily think that but think that USC will be just as successful with Thompson after Shaw is gone because he is a more accurate passer (just not as good at scrambling).

His rating is pretty high but not sure what.
I think they will be fine with Thompson. They will just adjust the offense. Plus the new wr willnot be as new next year.

I do not think Thompson should start. But he can if needed. Good position for usc to be in.

Yet you still read it annnnndddd commented. Come on fin, at least we aren’t talking about Clowney.

If there was any relevance it would have been on page 2 by now. I’m just bored and was trying to get something going like everyone else.

The season can’t start soon enough, can it?

Point is, he is a better qb than people give him credit for.

Shaw is definitely a good qb. Everyone credits everything to his feet but his passing numbers are great to while his feet might make it easier to pass he still has to hit his target.

Shaw is the starter. I like giving each one playing time. Thompson broke off several big runs last year. Defenses dont expect that from DT

I think Shaw is a solid leader who is tough as nails, and I’m sure most fans would agree. That said I think Spur likes to have opposing teams prepping for a zone read running type QB that most people think runs it all the time. It certainly changes things dramatically from the D side of things when Thompson comes in and starts firing it all over the park. Seems it takes him one or two throws to get warm but once he does…I think he wants to get rid of it as fast as Spur wants it out.

If it swims throw a fly at it!

Spurrier said he had some plays that had both qb’s in the backfield at the same time, should be interesting!
