Found corn piles in the FMNF today.Notifying DNR in the morning.Just a warning in case anyone reading this knows something about them.Would rather see the feeding stop than anyone get in trouble.Just sayin
I have a question…where I come from and hunted for 20+ years feeding was not legal at all - whether you hunted on private or public land. I’m not saying I’m against feeding, but what is the reasoning behind this state’s law that you can feed on private land, but not on public land? Just curious.

Rich people that own land make the laws
Did you guys know that whitetail deer had to be restocked in SC in the 50’s?
The more we just complain…the more things stay the same.
That was just the upstate, my dad helped catch quite a few here to ship upstate
Local Boy, Just having fun.
The American way is that on your property you have certain rights.
I don’t want you dictating how I hunt on my property. How about the fact that farmers get tons of doe tags to protect their crops.
Public land is different. I personally don’t have a problem with folks baiting on public land. But the potential for turf wars rises dramatically if you do. Remember when there was no season or rules about shrimp baiting and shrimpers left their poles out all the time and if you went near them it would be big trouble. I can see same thing if baiting was allowed on public grounds. Imagine someone hunting over another hunter’s corn pile and they both have guns.
Hunting, fishing, and poker are my sports. Work when necessary.
nobody likes a snitch. if you dont agree with baiting on public land go kick the corn pile to bits. or confront the person if you want to be a hero. dont be a chicken **** and call dnr. i dont agree with it but i wouldnt run away and tell on them. be a big boy

It would seem to me that taking the issue in your own hands and messing with someone else’s stuff is being shickenchit, rather than following the proper protocol and contacting those who are properly armed, empowered, and trained for these situations. The DNR exists for a reason.

Nobody likes a snitch until they are in need of one for help.If this was happening on your private land I bet you would want a snitch to help with info on who is doing it wouldnt you.I respect the land and game that I hunt and will do what ever I can to help DNR do their job. You need to re evaluate your definition of big boy.

Good point, makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. Thanks for the response…

We have DNR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS for a reason; and I’m glad we have them with folks with mentalities like DD.
Crap, you found my corn piles. I thought I was the only one who knew about them.
How much corn was left? I was thinking about going in the morning.

I’d call too, not to “snitch” but because if it’s a area I like then there’s a real good chance DNR will catch me in there and blame me… if u put corn in the FMNF where I like to hunt then you just infringed on ME too, I’m calling so KMA… lol
about baiting, it started with the Indians in the southern part of the state teaching us how to hunt deer out of the thickets no man can get inside of… also why Indians taught us to use dogs
it’s been a tradition for hundreds of years, they can’t touch that… it also makes sense if you want to try to keep numbers where DNR says they need to be… upstate is a completely different eco system, u can see deer a long way away in most places because they don’t have the thickets we do down here on the coast
tradition and common sense still rule on the coast, at least for a little while longer

If you’re following the rules, you don’t need to worry about “Snitches”.
If you aren’t following the rules, well, keep an eye out for the 99% of us that are. [:0]

Wrong!!!
There are thickets in the upstate woods that you can’t get through. The trees do lose there leaves providing some visibility, but they have these things called hills you cant see over. I personally don’t like dog hunting, or baiting, but I would hate to see it go away because too many of our outdoor priviledges are dwindling as it is.
well instead of keeping your mouth shut them maybe you should say “hey fellas I wouldnt’t hunt this area due to having corn in the area” all you are doing is maybe getting others in trouble because you will not say where it is. Let me find corn out there and everyone will have the GPS cords so not to get busted not knowing.

Really dude? Laws are laws, glad I don’t have to rely on Public lands.
