I am a little late in posting these pictures since this actually happened last month during the first leg of this year’s Los Suenos tournaments - headed down for the second tournament Monday.
On day three we hooked a small blue. The fish made a run towards the boat and then INTO the boat. The sequence of photos here is about 5.5 seconds in length. It seemed like an hour. Thank goodness, no one (included the fish) was injured.
Yeap - same thing happened to me in St. Thomas in 1996. That’s twice now - hope it never happens again!!! Here’s the link to my video which was pirated a few years ago and made into a commercial …
Great Pictures, you should send them in to Marlin Magazine, I’ll bet they will print them. Glad no one got speared. Every year you hear of someone getting a Bill thru some portion of the body.
They’ll be in next month’s edition of “In The Bite”. Dale is a friend and he happened to be our observer the day before this incident. He publishes a great magazine that I like to support when possible. Check it out at www.inthebite.com. “Marlin” is a wonderful magazine also.
Yes, there have been more than few people injured by marlin and sailfish over the years. It is more prevalent in recent years as boats are built to back down better and take on water in the cockpit much more efficiently than 20 years ago. There are a few scary videos on youtube.
That was cool. Great pics of the whole thing. Glad no one was hurt and congrats on the catch. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.
