Went out fri night solo. I was targeting sharks because had big one bite off mono red rig two weeks ago.I was determined to land him. Was in nice trough bait fishing with squid for whiting and bam hit two 20-24 inch reds. I was shocked, didnt know they ate squid.immediatly switched my big shark rigs to red rigs. a little while later big pole started singing guess who,it was my flying shark back on my red rig, dam,it bite off again. Every time i put a red rig out i get screwed. The final tally 2 reds, one arm length shark, couple rays ,only one whiting, and the big bite off. The following morning the family came out and took them fishing in different spot with huge bar.Once again only could catch one whiting was trying squid and shrimp. So determined to put little Pete on a big shark. After an hour or so big shark rig started running-i made sure he was on and passed the pole to Pete-hurray! I figured it was one of those 3 footers, not huge. Low and behold it was a nice 30 inch red, caught on a shark rig with big hook and wire leader. He did fantastic, pole was bowed over. Its funny how things work out sometimes.Pretty good, caught a few. The strangest thing we caught this weekend was a water moccasin under the house. He tangled himself up in my fishing net,he had to go. I hope Im not double posting I kind of lost my first one, I think. Good luck out there folks and keep at it.
glad the kid got to catch a nice fish. you still need help with posting pics?
Yes Mr. Fracwilt I just havent figured it out yet.I did look into photo dump as far as I could without signing up,but I must overcome my lack of tech skills. Thanks for trying to help me. Also tried to look at my i phone with no success. I will figure it out hopefully sooner than later, untill then Ive been saving pics on phone. Pete felt great about his fish and did a good job-yet it racked his man parts with pole between his legs, I guess i need to keep in mind as a big shark would physically challenge him with much more force. The red was the only fish we caught that day, besides 1 whiting and a mess of small rays. The winds were brutal, but ive found if you just work holes in front-and not cast to far and plenty of lead- you can still fish those days.
