Going to give it a shot on saturday, just cleaned 2 dozen crabs for bait hoping that will do the trick with these crazy tides and dirty water, couldnt hurt I suppose. What method do yall use to clean them, its been a while since Ive done it and was wanting to make sure I did it properly. I removed claws, removed shell, pulled gills, and removed legs, cut in half, wasnt sure if I remove apron or cut off face or if people take off the legs. Good luck out there folks this weekend, I think well need it, tough conditions are getting old to say the least.
Good luck
I always take them to the beach alive and kickin’. Take them apart on the beach. And yep, twist off the legs/claws, pull the top shell and cut in half or quarters. I don’t fuss much with the gills, I bet the Bull Reds don’t mind them.
Kinda like shelling shrimp?

Thanks for that Mr. Parker, good idea shucking on the beach, sometimes I’ll freeze shells till garbage day so they dont get ripe, appreciate it.
