Hello Everyone, We’ve been coming to Edisto for 6 years now and usually always crab at steamboat. I was wondering if anyone knew another area that might be kid safe. Our little boy is 2 and is on a crab and shark kick now. Anyway just curious if anyone could help out Thanks for any help.

The mouth of Big Bay Creek, by those condos…where the sand and pluff mud meet next to that first private dock…that’s always a good and kid-friendly spot. They can catch crabs and also have a beach to play on…and probably see a dolphin or two.
Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…
Thanks for your help Bob and Edisto9871. Were coming down Sun. My son is really excited about catching and eating crabs, to only be 2.6 years old he is all about some crabs, fish and sharks. That is a nice place you guys told me about. My biggest trout came off the same dock your talking about. Once again thanks for your help

I’m in the same boat as HighLine. Coming down tomorrow with 2 small children and looking for somewhere to go crabbing other than Steamboat Landing. Edisto - I believe you suggested the same place to me a couple of years ago but I’m not very familiar with the island. Could you be any more specific? Bob - would you have a problem if I called you looking for crabbing places?
Any preference for bait as far as chicken backs, necks, thighs, breasts, etc.? Thanks as always.
