Another picture story for ya’ll. Went crabbing with daddy today. Weather man said it was 40% chance of rain…build ing as the day went on…so we made sure we had slicker jackets…and hoped the rain would hold off until we got in. Water temp was 54 and slick as glass for the ride out with the only ripples being from manhadden and birds ducking quickly beneath the water. The Sunrise was absolutely beautiful …and once again I found it hard to believe how quickly the sky can turn so many different colors. We joked the whole way out and daddy told me how last trip out he pulled a pot and a pelican, while trying to grab the old bait as he dumped it, snatched his glove right off his fingers and went flying off with it, while another one flew behind it squawking and trying to steal the “bright orange fish” away. Then here goes daddy chasing them both down the creek …Im sure mumbling a few choice sentences and shaking his hand in the air…until they realized either it didnt taste so good…or they better give it up before the wild eyed man in the boat caught up with them . Boy would i have loved to have been there with my camera for that one! Then as I was trying to scoop a crab up from the floor while it snapped at me with his claws…daddy says…just grab it…they dont hurt…so in true reality show form I said…“how you say that when last time one got you, you yelped like a blue tick pup chasing a racoon through the woods.” that led to some sayngs of his own…which I wont post lol…weather held out until about 1230…when the sky opened up and doused us with a cold shower the whole way home.
Heres a few pics from our day…hopefully they will make you smile.

Nah…I leaned over the side and said…“here shrimpy shrimpy shrimpy”
just messing with you! you should be use to that by now! lol
Yeah…I asked daddy to let me throw the net a few times on our way in. they are spotty but caught a few. very mixed in size, but a good sign as long as we dont get any cold snaps or big storms.
Those little “spot” are excellent redfish bait! was glad to see them showing up too…also caught a half dozen nice haddens.
Thanks! He was none to happy with the rain pelting him…said his windshield wipers on his glasses weren’t working!
I got on the floor in front of the bow platform with my back to the wind and rain and laughed the whole way in!
Nope… I pulled 57 pots yesterday…had a bushel of number twos…(five inches). And about twenty pounds of number ones…greater than 5 and a half inchs( (this for those who for those who dont know sizes) ). Two baskets bait for pots and six gallons gas… Lots of little ones rap…a good sign for later…but not for now. Peeler season will be here soon…can’t wait!..hope it’s a good one.
I believe your photo skills are getting better and better… if that’s possible. Thanks for sharing. My Dad will be 80 april 4th. Love em while we can! Then inevitably rejoice them and know we will meet again! Amazing how much knowledge we can gain from our elders, if only we take the time to do so. You are a truly blessed Woman.
Thanks everyone! Hoofarded…those pelican eyes are weird for sure…can’t figure out why some are dark brown…and others crystal blue…and it doesn’t seem to be because of their age…daddy said…ok…I won’t go there…;). He always has a explanation for everything;) lol
