While they have been around for quite sometime Croc shoes have made their way into mainstream America. You cannot go anywhere without seeing people sporting them in all different colors and even buying little things to decorate them. My kids received some for Christmas and wear them just about every day. It was not until this past week, however, that an amazing discovery with these shoes was made in the world of fishing.
While running an offshore charter for some folks from out of town, Captain Elliot Fenderputty made an incredible discovery. His first mate Carmine was trying to impress a pretty young lady on the boat and was showing off some of his Chuck Norris style martial arts kicks, when suddenly one of his chartreuse green Crocs flew off of his foot an into the water landing right in the middle of their trolling spread. As Captain Fenderputty chuckled to himself watching the shoe float through the spread he saw a flash and the largest wahoo he’d ever seen came up and cut the shoe in half like a knife through hot butter. Bewildered the captain went to shout and before he could utter a peep another hoo came up and engulfed the rest of the shoe. Carmine seeing what happened immediately removed his other shoe and began to rig it with a double hook rig and a heavy steel leader. Grabbing the Penn 50tw right next to him he tied on the Croc rig and pitched it into the center of the spread. As he dropped it back there was a huge splash and the reel began to scream. Carmine pushed the drag to full strike and set the hook with all his might and the rod doubled over and began to scream even louder. After a 30 minute fight Carmine sank the gaff in an 85 lb wahoo. This was their only fish of the day.
On the way back to the dock Captain Fenderputty, knowing he had another charter the next day, called his wife and had her go buy 10 new pairs of Chartreuse green Crocs.
