Crowd dodging

Got a buddy in town visiting for the weekend who wants to do some fishing. Worried it’s gonna be a zoo everywhere with the holiday weekend. Any suggestion on somewhere to avoid the crowds? I can imagine folly and Sullivan’s are off the table. Willing to drive up/down the coast

I’d recommend fishing from the beach in wild dunes on iop if you have a guest pass. It’s private. If you don’t have a pass or can’t get one then id turn left on palm blvd and go as far down towards the second security gate as you can. Park on one of the side streets to the right and that will keep the crowds down. Sullivan’s has more kite boarders than iop in my experience. They’re a huge worry for me when I go. I’m terrified for them that they’ll ride right into my powerpro and get mangled. I always go where I see no kite boarders but they always magically appear.

The wind reports are 15-20…there will be kites, use heavier line.

Maybe try Breach inlet or the south side of Sullivan’s Island.

When trying to avoid people find the current. It’s actually illegal to swim at Breach it’s so bad at times. We are in a very weak tide right now so you won’t have to throw 4 ounces to keep it down either.

botany bay. always plenty of room to fish out there.

depending on much effort you are willing to go through, try bulls island. First ferry out and last ferry in should provide a nice crowd-free fishing experience with ample time to let baits soak. Pack light and/or bring a cart, its a little bit of a walk to the beach. not sure if the boats are full on this weekend or not. call and ask?

fished edisto this evening. it was pretty dang crowded, at least for edisto. most people started leaving around 6pm though, that’s about when we started fishing. we caught 5 sharpnoses before it got dark.
