Been fishing the Broad but thought we might try a new place. Any tips on ramps, bait, locations.
THANKS

Try the Combahee Light - closest landing is Bennett’s Point.

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Ditto. Seems to be less people but it is a more localized spot. Seen some good fish boated there over the past few years. Marker 187 can be another good one as well

Can you catch greenies like the Broad? Anybody sell eels close by?
Thanks for the info
Good Luck
Just FYI, the Light is pretty hit or miss. Mostly miss. Give it a try if you want.

I fished the light many moons ago and have talked with some of my friends who’ve regularly fished the area the last few years. They have put in a lot of hours over there for very few fish (like three in five years). I might give it a try this year since I’m back in the area, though.
Fishing is the universal language.
Have split my cobia fishing between the Broad and St. Helena. Have done a little better in St. Helena but had worse luck with small (10"-12") sharks. Have pulled in the chum bag and had as many as 5 of the little bastards wiggling in it. On a pretty weekend the rip is so crowded it sucks but latley the St. Helena side has been getting crowded. If you are able, go during the middle off the week for less frustration from inexperienced boaters. I’ve actually been anchored at the ripp on the Broad river and had a group tell me I was anchored in there spot could I please move. I was stunned but did not move, I even offered a cold beverage to them. Made me feel better. I usually put in at either steel bridge(hwy17) and run out that way or Grey’s Hill. If running Grey’s Hill be carefull at low tide by Sea Broak point and the hwy 21 bridge.
