You guys helped me coordinate one of my best vacations by giving me insider details on Daufuskie last year. We’re thinking about giving it another summer. What’s the story on the resort? Their dock was a good spot for the money last year and I’d hate to increase my cost by not having that option again this year.
We’ve also tossed around a trip to Ft Lauderdale during miniseason or the outerbanks. We’ve got a 2 year old so the car ride to either of those could be problematic.
We had a cell tower and company truck on the Daufuskie. Got to do a lot of exploring if I missed the ferry. If you can gain the trust of some of the permanent residents, there is some amazing history on that Island. Probably one of the last strong holds of true Gullah or “Saltwater Geechee” on the east coast. Some old Yemassee Indian ties on that Island as well. I’ve got a friend that works out there from time to time and has caught some monster spot tail in the fall on the beach side.
The dock being completed sound like the rate will be a lot more than last year…
We cruised around on the golf carts and saw signs of history, little churches, schools, etc. It was the most relaxed I’ve ever been and if you go read my post about it last year, it had a tough start to our trip.
