I was trying to swing making this trip with her but it’s just not going to happen. My daughter, working two jobs and taking a paramedic course, is taking a much needed break the last of Mar/first of April week. She will be staying at our usual Coosaw place for those that have met us there before.
I know that all she is planning on doing is hitting the books and maybe trying to do some dolphin watching from the dock. However if somebody might have an open boat around Sam’s Point that week I would sure appreciate it she might be able to tag along. I’ve not said anything to her yet about this but I’m betting she would be ready to wet a line…just be prepared to be outfished-at least that’s the usual when I’m in our boat with her We’ve been all around Coosaw/Lucy Creek and across the river in our little 14’ johnboat so she’s not totally unfamiliar with the area. She loves to watch and follow the dolphins too. Ask her about catching a 3.5’ bonnethead from a canoe:smiley:
There are enough local “Coosaw Yacht Club” folks around that she won’t be lacking for company but don’t know if they will be doing much on the water during the week.
Hey Tim and Glen! Thanks for the “get back”!! Obviously we all don’t know what the weather will do in another couple of weeks…weather really shut everything down a year ago last fall when we were down there (Sandy???) so between that and her just wanting a break I don’t know just how much time she’ll want to take for any “on the water” trips. She’s really only been fishing with us and Ross (deepwater with Ross) when we’ve been there but without me being there to try to outfish, some of her gumption to go fishing may be lowered…did say anything about her competitive nature
I think Mike (the Sharktooth Fairy)will be trying to get her out for a sharktooth hunt on one or two of his favorite spots and keeping an eye on her for me (she may be 28 but she’s still my little girl).
Don’t know how well the internet connection will work for her either since we on ATT up here and it doesn’t work so hot down around Coosaw but am betting that texts will still go through like they usually do.
Tim-I don’t believe we’ve met but Glen’s word is gold in my book! We’ve been using the ACE Basin Tours (did Capt Stan finally retire?) dock for many years and consider the Lawson family to be second kin. If you’ve been around their dock or using the ramp in mid-Oct anytime in the last 10-15 years I would bet you’ve probably seen us around.
I’ll keep you all posted as the time, the weather and her schedule firms up a little more and maybe just some time in a boat, it doesn’t even need to be for fishing, can be worked in. I’ll make sure she can cover some gas money
There’s a reason why we keep coming back to Coosaw and the Lowcountry every chance we can-we just haven’t found a better place to call our second home!!
Dadfsr, The weather this week is a bit unpredictable this time of the year. I do have a scheduled trip Tues. with wind Wed. I believe we are turning the corner though. Glen, I am sure I will be seeing you soon and thanks for the kind words.
Thanks Tim! She won’t be down there until next week. Talked to her again last night and she reminded me that she really needs to get studying done but wouldn’t turn down a chance to to just go dolphin watching if able to-she is a real dolphin fanatic!..we’ve spent hours in the old johnboat at an idle just playing around following and watching the critters
