What happened 2 weeks ago the surf was rocking, lots of big whiting and Black tips, last two weeks have been dead. I’ve tried every ware and the best i have done is one nice trout. Is it just me or did it just die the last 2 weeks.

Heat. The fish are still around but you’re going to have to work harder to find them, and they may not be in the surf. The water temps are climbing, as usual, this time of year and the fish behave differently because of it.
… The Cross of Christ is the anvil upon which the hammer of evil wore itself out.
Have been 3-4 times past couple weeks, catching tons of fish. No Trout since May though. Fished Folly on Fri. 7/4, 7:00am-12:00, lots of Whiting some 12-14", Blue fish, baby Sharks. Typical summer time pattern. Surf temp getting HOT!! Don’t think I’ll be back to Folly, too many idiots…no drinking on the beach…yeah right, disappointing. I will stick with IOP.
If you are looking for some good spots this time of year. You can try down by the Dunes club on SI. Fish that area from the club to 17th station. All along that point the bottom has alot of gulleys and sandbars. You can be standing in knee deep water and take a step to your right and the water is up to your waist. I have fished that area of the beach for a better part of twenty years and other parts of the beach may change, but that area has stayed the same. When I use to fish that area I would get out there about 4:30 to 5:30 in the morning and fish it till about noon. The one thing you have to watch out for swift water because you are right at the edge of the shipping channel. At dead low you can get into some deep water and you can pull some nice red and black drum out of that place. I hope this helps, and good luck.
Think I’ll try the so spot that’s for the tip!

i saw a couple big trout from the surf in someones bucket (20"+) after i tried yak trolling 300-400 yards off the beach (also saw no bait being busted, let alone catch a king, cobia, tarpon, spanish, …) but very slow for me down here too. i had one slow run on a stingray in the river that stole it and caught a baby sharpnose while a friend caught a stingray…that was it for this weekend. better than not fishing though!
