Went to Deveaux bank today and was casting cut mullet into the surf. Didnt catch anything for about a half hour. Switched to shrimp and within five minutes they were biting. Got one small bass maybe a foot long. Ran out of shrimp and had to switch back to mullet. After fifteen minutes had a nice one take the mullet. Reeled in a nice 12 pounder. Real fat. Forgot to bring the sand spikes so my reel got sandy when I was taking the hook out but can’t complain when you’re cathcing fish.
Not sure, but I was under the impression that they (DNR) retracted the total closing and just closed it to people taking their pets onto the island. Also persons must stay on the shoreline. Maybe I’m wrong?
you can’t go above the high tide mark and you can’t bring pets. Its like the largest brown pelican rookery in South Carolina or the East Coast. Its big whatever it is

$440.00 fine for dogs on the island. Had DNR inform me of that before they posted signs. Warning only, no ticket
