Dexter fillet knife lost on Folly beach

I know this is a long shot but I left a brand new Dexter fillet knife on Folly beach near the 1st line of rocks on the north side of the beach on Monday. Would love if back if anyone found it. Thanks!

Since no one has responded, now I’ll be honest. I’m almost certain someone took my knife out of my bag bc I used it on the beach, moved down the beach 100 yards and it was gone soon after. Even if I left it at our first spot, which I don’t think I did, we were the only people fishing in sight so it would have been obvious it was ours. Sorry for the rant but nothing angers me more than a thief!

Keep an eye on your gear gentlemen, thieves walk among us on Folly!

Oh some one stole my entire tackle box while I was out paddling a bait out. So I know your pain

Do you have a picture of the knife or know the exact model, I fish Folly all the time, and will check around to see if someone is using it. I imagine they’ll be there with it at some point.

If someone was stealing my knife, I would only confront them from a distance, unless I had a bigger knife or gun in my hand!

Definitely post a picture of the knife if you can. I fish the south side of Folly weekly and leave my stuff out all the time, usually putting my wallet and cell phone in my tacklebox. Guess I’ll have tob e more careful, that is just sickening.

Yep, if they stole the knife out of the bag, you can imagine this isn’t the first time, they are looking for easy targets. Keep your eye on your gear when in the surf.

There were a few fisherman that walked by heading to the lighthouse i guess so i bet it was one of them. It was just a white handled 7 inch filet knife in a white hard case (sold at Dicks). It was nothing special, only about $30 but still…

since then, i bought a cart so ill keep my stuff at the edge of the water and roll it all back as the tide comes in instead of setting up high on the beach along way off from the water at low tide.

Lesson learned…

That could work, I never had anything stolen at Folly or any other beach but a guy I was fishing with one time claims someone grabbed some tackle and lures out of his tackle box that was left open. I was somewhat skeptical but after reading what happened to yall, sounds like he was for real. I usually have my gear zipped up and under/near a chair or have someone back with it while I’m fishing. Be interesting to know whether more people have had this happen to them at Folly, two people just on this thread. This person needs to be caught. Wonder who these fisherman were you saw, bet I’ve seen them before all the times I’ve been there.

Sorry you lost some gear guys. Even worse if it was stolen. Maybe try what I’ve been doing for years. Get a paper sandwich bag, put what you “really” need in it; rigs, hooks, weights, swivels ya know the necessities. And it’s just a paper bag. As far as a bait knife, I use a serrated steak knife from the 4 for $1 rack will hack a Whiting or Blue up easy. I mean surf fishing tough on gear. Why take it all to the sand? Seems like tackle boxes, pier carts even a back pack is just so obvious. And sadly there are a lot of folks out there that will take whatever they want.

Good advise, No need to bring the whole tackle box, just take a few things you need out of it. I will be fishing the north end Friday, and will keep my eyes open for the knife.

yep i always just bring a little shoulder cooler with a small travel box and a crappy old knife maybe a few hooks and leader. not so much bc i am afraid of someone taking it but because i just dont want to bring that much stuff. shoots half the time i got the wife and 2yr old daughter in tow and i can barely get that shoulder cooler and rod out!!!
