I’m taking two kids there today, 8 & 9. I’ve seen done good trout pics hut never been there in real life. Any last minute advice? Just want them to catch stuff, preferably fish that we can eat, but u wouldn’t mind a big fight for them like ladyfish. Just any last minute advice for them on trout, flounder, reds ext?
I’m a high class redneck.
Fishing is a delusion entirely surrounded by liars in pfgs and buffs.
There is a feeder creek to the right of the pier with a small beach area that has produced for me. Be prepared to battle the crabbers and tourist.
I was out there this weekend. Managed a ton of shrimp on the left side in the shallows with the cast net (as you’re walking out) if you need some bait. Definitely plenty of Crabs there for sure. Lots of pin fish too. We didn’t do very good but the wind was blowing the opposite direction of the current so was tough getting a line out

Is the pier ever crowded? Like how big is it and how many people on average? Any fee’s sorry for all the questions, just like to get an idea of what I’m doing before I go any where.
Light travel’s faster than sound. This is why some people appear smart until you hear them speak.
The pier is free. As far as the crowd goes, it really depends. Sometimes there will be a lot of people crabbing, and often it can get busy with people picking up and dropping people off on boats. It’s never overly crowded though.
The best time to fish the pier, is late in the evening. You can fishing out there at night, there are lights running down the pier. Some of the best fishing is after dark on a outgoing tide. The people of Daniel Island may complain about you being in the way, but the City of Charleston is the one who keeps up with the pier.
