I’m looking to add a couple 10’-11’ spinning rods to the herd. Anybody use them?
D,
I’ve got (2) 7 footers that I used to use bottom fishing. They’re very heavy and just about unbreakable. They look great and the solid glass is tough but the eyelets don’t hold up well on them. If you’re willing to repair the eyelets on them I’ll give them to you for free. New eyes cost about as much as the rod though.

Thanks for the response killnR and the offer. I have plenty of 7 footers, looking for a 10-11 foot rod with a lure rating of 6oz min…and cheap. The Quantum rods I use comes in 10’ but only rated for 4oz.
Thanks again.
Had a 12’ casting a few years ago. Solid rod, but I didn’t care for it. Reel seat was further up from butt and the eva handles made uncomfortable when casting. All of my longer rods are cork-taped.
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
Look at Okuma Longitude, their 10’, 11’, and 12’ models 3-8oz, 20-40 lbs

I have several of the Beefsticks in various lengths, in 7’ up to 12’. As has been said, they’re heavy since they’re fiberglass, but nearly indestructible and are very much an economy rod. I have both casting & spinning models. For the price, they’re an OK rod. I bought them first for the durability, and second the price as I didn’t get to do a lot of surf fishing & couldn’t justify spending a lot on better rods. I’ve fished baits & tossed some of my big wood Striper lures which are up to 6 oz with them & they do a good job. I never had to worry about breaking one. There are certainly better rods out there and I agree the reels seats are not the best and the eyes are not the best. I haven’t had any problems with mine, but once I get a broken eyelet I’ll replace all the eyelets with better & even add a few which will improve the rod a lot. Yes, the rods are inexpensive, but as said solid and I would rather upgrade them than toss them.
I would like a longer handle on my casting models below the reel seat, but I make due with them. EVA foam is fine for me but I would prefer a good cork handle if it was a better rod. If you plan on fishing them a lot, a better rod might be what you want. For occasional use & to fit a low price range they’re a good rod IMO.
BTW, I’m using Emcast Plus spinning reels on the spinners, which are a good match for my use and ABU 6600’s on the casters.
Good info from all. I fish from a sand spike 100% of the time, so the weight is not a problem. All I’ve been able to find out about them is the blanks are tuff. As far as the guides, you get what you pay for. Have had a couple guides fail on my current surf rods (also very inexpensive) but they cast pretty good for cheap. Think I’ll pick up a 10’ Beefstick and give it a heave with 6oz plus bait.
Appreciate the good ■■■■■■■■!
DP, just wondering why you want/need a pole that size? Is it solely for increase casting distance?
Probably just adding a big heavy set up to the line up for bigger baits and bad conditions. I know I like to have a light, med, and heavy set up out to cover pretty much everything.
^^^What he said^^^ This time of year I regularly throw 6oz +bait, especially with a big moon and N/NE winds blowin’. Looking for a rod rated higher without going to 12’-13’.
I gotcha.
D PARKER I have an 11&12 footer i fished for stripers up north with. If interested pm. me.(the bigger the bait the bigger the fish)
