Didn't Boom Say It's All About Recruiting?

No one wanted Joyner as a QB. He wanted to go to clemtech but they wanted him as a (one or the other) DB or WR. He wanted to play QB. I think the only D-1 school that offered him as a QB was sc. In the sc spring game he went 1 for 5, for 23 yards with a fumble and a pic. He’ll never start as qb.

With the talent, yes, CU should be a contender this year. Without a doubt. Whether they win out, who knows? But they should be in the mix.

Agreed with Joyner… But using that logic, since all the Clem faithful now want KB at TE, then I guess they won’t have the best roster of Qbs assembled if Dabo moves him, correct?

I look at the talent that Dabo has, and has had in the recent past… He should have more NCs… He just isn’t a good critical moment game coach… I guarantee Boom would have many more NCs with that level of talent…

I guess my couple of thoughts about that is - Boom will never get that talent at SC, or that talent will never come to SC, whichever way you want to look at it. The other thing is you don’t win a fishing tournament bc you have the best boat. You got to have some luck in the mix too. Dabno has been in 2 NC games. One one and lost one. I’m cool with that. He ain’t Nicky, but he keeps his team in the mix. If you ain’t in the mix, you ain’t anywhere

Just watched some tape of that new CU running back commit. Impressive.

Why wouldn’t the talent come to USC? It has before? Talent didn’t show up in Clem before like it has recently? What changed in Clemson to attract all this talent?

I do agree about the luck part as I believe Clemson got lucky the year they won the NC… Kiffin’s departure, and not getting the flag on the illegal rub route on the final play were both luck events…

Why would talent come to sc? There is no winning history.

Then, why did the talent start coming the Clemson? Until a few years ago Clemson and Dabo were considered choke artists at best. Recruits these days don’t look that far back to the 80s. They look at what’s in it for them now… Facilities, stadium, exposure, coaches that can develop them for the next level, chance to start early, recruiters that make them feel “special”, etc.

you just want someone to bring up the 5peat. Why did Clem$on all of a $udden $tart landing top recruit$ after that?

But sc got Joyner. So that’s cool I guess

Guess there is no excuse for not winning a NC this year. If Dabo doesn’t, then it is a coaching issue. Do you agree?

If the Cali QB comes to fruition, the real USC will have at least three 4 star QBs on the roster next… Presuming we don’t get more.

Heck, ole Connor Shaw didn’t have a problem taming the Tigers for three straight years, and he was a measly 3 star…

We def have a legit shot at winning the Natty this year, but injuries can always happen. We are young at WR, and thin at DB. I wouldn’t call it a fail, especially since Bama, and Ohio State are loaded this year as well.

Not winning an ACC Championship, and making the playoffs would be a fail.

The west coast USC actually picked up a stud last recruiting cycle, and always have good depth at QB. Just crazy how much talent is in Cali.

Connor def got the better of us, but defenses that USC had were crazy good. Lots of NFL talent all over the place. Boyd was a good QB, but always **** the bed against USC and FSU.

The 5 peat is real. It’s probably the pinnacle of sc’s storied football history.

I’m a huge Clemson homer, but I do think if USC can stay healthy on the offense they will win 9 games. I think Deebo is nasty, and Edwards is looking better. That Shi kid looks good in the slot when healthy as well.

Ya’ll are not beating us this year though, you would need us to lose 4 QBS, and 5 D linemen.

Multiple ACC Championships, Multiple Bowl Wins, A Natty, Large Winning Record Against SC and that is pre-Dabo, so I’d say there’s some history there.

SC has 1 ACC Championship, 1 SEC East Title, won their first Bowl in '94, Clowney, George Rogers, and the 5-Peat, 3 - 9 win and 4 - 10 Win Seasons, et al

Is an ACC championship meaningful to anyone outside of the ACC?

Of course, it’s the 2nd best conference in the country. SEC is the best since they have Bama.

It may be if the win the natty?

CU just picked up a top ranked defensive back. I don’t believe CU has lost one single highly ranked player they went after to SC in the last few years.

Boom?

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Recruiting has been quiet. CU picking up a player here and a player there. Coots getting anyone?
