So I’m getting ready to move back to Charleston this summer and was talking to some guys at work this week about landings and other things. They mentioned how many of the landings around here can be real difficult with current and wind for someone without a good deal of experience. Now I’ve had my boat operating mainly out of the sands in Port Royal for the last two years and at least to me, that can be a pretty nasty spot with wind and current.
Does anyone know if that is comparable to what I’m going to be looking at in Charleston? Better? Worse?
No better, no worse, Adam. Go by some of the landings and watch…preferably on the weekends if you want to be entertained, scared or both!
I’d watch out for Wappoo Cut landing…it can be tricky and the folks there can be wild and inexperienced.
Remley’s Point is a nice landing on Mt. Pleasant on the Wando (good fishing)…but heavily used as are lots of Charleston landings. If I were you…I’d look hard at fishing the North Edisto for less traffic and darn good fishing. Use Cherry Point Landing. End of County Road 1767, off State Road 700, Rockville, Wadmalaw Island, SC, on Bohicket Creek. Take Bohicket Creek out to North Edisto.
