We had a pleasantly surprising day at Folly today. Fish came in bursts with lots of slow periods but ended with one slot red, a 17.5" black drum, a couple smaller bd, and one monster whiting. Great to get out in weather this nice this time of year and even better to put some fish in the cooler

Carp Skewer thats a fine mess of fish. It seems like you didn’t get the memo that surf fishing is slow this time of the year. Good for you Sir, and that is a hefty whiting. Nice work.
Man I got turned onto them a couple years ago and I never go to the beach without em. They’re awesome. They usually fish comparably with fresh bait and they never come off the hook. We’ve had several days where they’ve way out fished fresh bait for some reason. Good stuff definitely worth a try
I’ll have to try them out. I’ve looked at them in stores before, and noticed that some packs were the strips were supple, while others the strips were hard as a rock. Didn’t want to buy them and have them turn to stone on me.
They have different flavors/colors…crab,shrimp, clam, squid, bloodworm…and some that are red, others chartreuse. They all work the same, or have you found one outdoes the other?
I haven’t tried all of them I usually do the shrimp and clam. Color doesn’t seem to be a huge factor tho i do really like the pink. Chartreuse does alright sometimes but sometimes it can be a bit much. I would suggest the whole strips instead of the pre cut ones. Let’s you pick and choose what size you use
