Dirty water

Made my maiden voyage offshore out of edisto. Ran out past the edisto offshore reef to about a 100ft of water. Never cc pile get out of the dirty water. Thought about push out further but the wind started kicking up and didn’t feel like getting beat up for the extra miles when the water didn’t look to be clearing. My question to the edisto guys is, is it common to have the water be hat murky that far out? Last Sunday and Monday out of Charleston we were in pretty clear water by the time we cleared the last couple buoys marking the shipping channel and in really nice “blue water” in a 100’ which is about 40 miles out, same distance as today. Even catching dolphin in 103ft of water. Just curious if it was a fluke with the wind and wave flow or if it is typical for this area.

Thanks!

The water is pretty clear by the time you get to the 60 ft reef, which is only around 20 miles out.

Thanks for the reply it was nasty green chalky looking water all the way out to 90 almost 100 ft. Past the offshore reef. It must’ve been the wind. Hopefully next time it’s a different story
