Good job Russ!!!
No disrespect taken at all here Carolinacoot, no worries whatsoever.
It really shook me up a lot after all was over and done with. I’m sure somewhere in this whole incident there is a lesson for me to learned, I’m just having a hard time grasping it as of yet. I don’t think it was about me being out there by myself as I have done a lot of fishing and hunting and camping by myself and I truley enjoy it as well as going with others. I don’t think it’s about being properly prepared either as I usually go WAY overboard in that respect.

Maybe the lesson is bring lots of ammo. I know I do not usually bring enough ammo to ring out multiple three shot bursts. I will now though. Probably bring some bulk/cheap ammo for that purpose alone. I learned something from this and I did not even experience it.

I’m grassroots, you’re just astroturf.
Kinda like expect the unexpected? Don’t think anybody could’ve been ready for that. Maybe you were supposed to be there and just didn’t know it. I know it’s time for me to lose weight and get back in shape. Always carry aspirin with me cause I had a heart attack in 1997. Been in a tree be fore and got winded or started getting pains that weren’t comfortable. All I can say is the man was waiting for you and you did what you had to do in the situation. Good to you and hope all is well.
I had a quadruple bypass 20 yrs ago. I hunt alone all the time and always carry Nitro and aspirin with me.
You did good.
The fact that you ran towards the shots is amazing.
I think we need to remind everyone to carry a handgun and to fire 3 shots when in need.
That is better than bagging a record buck.
Very impressive clear thinking Russ. Good job. I’m a firm believer in “everything happens for a reason”. The reason may not present itself today or tomorrow but when it does and you connect the dots it’s going to be a glorious moment for all involved. I hope the fella is ok…you have a new life long friend that’s for sure.
Wind in your face, the sun at your back and nothing to do but hunt. Life is good.
God bless you for what you did for that guy,Russ. You could have been the one needing the aspirin as well after toting him out that far.I recently did a solo elk hunt and rented a sat phone for the trip.I may ask the wife to buy me one for Christmas this year for hunting and fishing.

I printed this out for my 15 yr old son to read. A great example of good woodsmanship!
well done sir!
drownbait,
I read it to my 12 yo son. he was very attentive. Since he has met Russ, I think it helped him put a face to a name.

You can’t say this enough! Taught many a hunter about the three shot rule. Good Deed! Indeed!

From one Sportsman to another, THANK YOU T2B! I think we all needed to hear your story. In these trying times, I for one am glad you had the where-withal to aces the situation, and possibly save another Sportsmans life!!! In reading your accounts of the event, I think just how much we all need to remember to prepare for the worst. God Bless You!
The cost of Liberty, is eternal vigilance!!
I cannot describe how much I admire the deed you have done.
What a truly inspirational story. T2B, you obviously don’t want/need the accolades, an attitude, by the way, that all true heros share. I think God placed you where he needed you to be at that precise time, just as he does with all of us, even if we don’t know why at the time. I pray that this man you helped is OK, and hope that if my time of need ever arises, you or someone just like you is nearby.

A little unknown fact that is worth remembering:

> Emergency: The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find
> yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an
> emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to

> can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

Mr. Russ, Hat’s off to ya’. It never ceases to amaze me what the human body is capable of when riding the adrenaline wave.
Hope everything turns out OK for the fortunate fella you helped…
