“TAKE A KID FISHING”
I’m not the government and not trying to tell anyone what to do by any means, but if you agree with a complete closure, remember it’s harder to get get something back once it’s taken away. Look at Red Snapper, I think it’s year 4 or 5 of the closures and as far as I understand, THERE WILL BE NO OPEN SEASON THIS YEAR. I commented that I would like to know where these “local” fish go during the winter, because I do do a lot of winter fishing offshore and may (like once or twice) have picked up a cobia from October-March offshore. So, in closing, how do they know what happens when the fish migrate. Happy Water Festival!

Done and worried! Got your back ‘backlash’.
We fish offshore and have caught / seen more this year than in the past 10 years combined!
Maybe the cobia have found food else where (think about the YFT…) and are not really in a decline. Any authorities seeking increased numbers of them anywhere up or off the coast? Can’t just let them slam the door.
Any changes in the water quality in the area they used to thrive in? That’s a can of worms we’ll never be privy to!
